Hikmicro Lynx Pro LE10

Thermal Vision - Now Afforable – HikMicro Lynx Pro LE10 Thermal Monocular. As I enjoy camping and the outdoors, I like to also see what's out making noise at night. So, some form of night vision was needed. After around 3 months of reading up on, watching reviews and comparing night vision equipment, I decided the HikMicro Lynx Pro LE10 was the one for me. A major reason for the thermal of a NVG is the ability to detect body heat, so any living creature is clearly visible. On top of that, an NVG is useless in daylight, where as the thermal can be used day or night. Finally, if you are using a NVG and a torch is pointed at you, it will 'blow out' and make the NVG near useless.
At a reasonable sub $1000 price point, one would expect some horrid, knock off that is just blurry colours, maybe. But no, not with the Lynx Pro LE10. What do you get for your dollar?
Firstly, this is pretty much pocket size. Slip it in your pocket or stash bag and be ready for action straight away. But don't let the small size fool you.
Offering 256 x 192 resolution, with a highly sensitive detector, adaptive automatic gain control, a 720 x 540 resolution 0.2inch LCOS display.
Throw in an almost 500 metre detection range, a built in lithium battery offering up to 8 hours of operating time. Recharge quickly with the USB-C interface, letting you charge while you transfer the images and video. All saved safely on a microSD card.
A quick ~10s startup, offering a wide range of colour palette options. White hot, Black hot, Red hot and Fusion. Identifying what has heat, ergo signs of possible life, this little unit does an exceptional job.
Oh the top of the unit are 4 buttons. The ON/OFF button, the Shutter button, a Mode button and a zoom button, which affords a range of 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x zoom. On the side is a handy focusing knob, to adjust for the slight differences that most people have in their vision.
A soft rubber eye-piece comfortably cups the eye, blocks side glare and protects your eye. For those who may need long term positioning on say a tripod, the Lynx LE10 even provides a standard screw mount on the bottom. Finally a retained rubber lens protector is attached to, well protect the lens, even while it is in the provided neoprene case.
As a NVG/Thermal this is a really nice unit. Comfortable to hold/use and offering clear imagery, this unit cost me ~$700. At that price, these are incredibly affordable. I was actually surprised to see a major brand thermal, in the same size are both more expensive and shockingly offer less resolution.
The HikMicro Lynx Pro LE10 is in my view a clear winner for those looking for an affordable, subtle and effective thermal vision/NVG unit. Whether you are a hunter, security guard or just camping and want to watch the wildlife at night, the Lynx LE10 is a definite unit to consider.
