Hisense K300 Series

Love this TV – - Decent picture and sound, suitable for a small to medium sized living room - It has the following inputs: 2 x USB, 5 x HDMI, 2 x AV, 1 x component / VGA / optical / headphone / woofer. - The "Last" button switches to the previous channel watched (handy when switching between 2 channels). Seems like a basic feature but I have a Hisense smart TV which does not have this.

- Has PVR functionality with the use of a USB drive (not provided and needs to be purchased separately). Up to 6 programs can be scheduled to record. Only one program can be recorded at a time and a different channel cannot be watched while recording. Cannot use other inputs either i.e. a program can't be recorded if using AV, HDMI etc. The schedule of programs to be recorded can be viewed/edited/deleted through a sub menu of the EPG

- The PVR function shows recorded programs listed by the name of the show (as per what is in the EPG), and are accessed via a dedicated button labelled "Index". This is better than my smart Hisense TV which labels the recordings with date and time instead of by program name and has separate folders for each channel that has been recorded.

- Pressing the "D/A" button which used to toggle between digital and analogue broadcast (before analogue was shut down in Australia) switches the source back to TV if watching another source e.g. if on AV, HDMI etc the D/A button will take you straight back to TV instead of having to go to the source menu and scroll through all the available inputs.

- It can play multiple video file types from videos I have downloaded on to USB such as .mp4, .mkv and .avi. It can also play .ts which is the format that a standalone PVR I have in the bedroom records in, so if I want to watch recorded programs in the living room I just have to insert the USB drive into this TV instead of moving the PVR unit.

Great unit – I've had mine for about 9 months and it is easily as good as the samsung. Great Picture, good sound (coming from the back of a tv is never going to be fantastic) and has inbuilt PVR

The price does not correspond to quality – I bought Hisense 39" K300 and Samsung 40" EH5000 TVs for my house. Thanks to seller, I've changed that Hisense to another Samsung by paying just extra 70$. These are disadvantages of Hisense (not in compare with Samsung, but in general): Sound: quality is poor (with "Music" preset only it is more or less convenient), low volume. Tuner: channel switches with long image delay, sound delay even longer.

Remote: material quality like in cheapest Chinese products, very big size.

Menu: poor, non welcome. If you just connect USB or HDMI and want to switch to it, from menu you'll see all available connections, and you never know was it USB1 or USB2, or if it was HDMI: HDMI1 or HDMI2, HDMI3 or HDMI4, you need to try all before you find active connection.

Image quality: at the first glance (in a shop) image as good as Samsung's. Testing at home: image proportions of movie are not observed when playing movie from USB. I connected computer over HDMI with Full HD resolution and I couldn't configure image brightness/sharpness and other parameters so that make letters and shapes readable and clear.

In short: add extra 50-80$ and buy Samsung I mentioned or a bit older Sony Bravia model and be sure, it is right choice. I don't know about other series but 300K is very bad.
