I purchased these shoes on the recommendation of my podiatrist, because of a problem I have with one of my feet. I was totally blown away at the cost of them, I have never paid that much for a pair of shoes, but my podiatrist assured me that I would get plenty of years wear out of them. So imagine my surprise at seeing the stitching coming apart… Read more
between the top and the sole. I purchased them at an Athletes foot, in Coffs Harbour as that was where the podiatrist said I could get them. They have been comfortable and suitable for my foot. I rang a 1300 number I had, which turns out is Athletes foot. They told me that they expect that generally I should get between 400 and 800 klms out of them, I didn't realise they have a built in pedometer in them? How else would I know how many klms I have done? Am I being unrealistic to expect a $280 pair of shoes to last more than two years? My previous shoes always lasted me a lot more than 2 years, in fact I am still occasionally wearing some of my old ones when I help my son with his work around his farm. I wrote to Hoka Australia, they passed it back to Athletes foot who said they are outside the warranty period, apparently, quality and longevity are not included in these expensive shoes.
Terrible quality, they disintegrate with minimal use. I purchased mine on the 1st of December 2025 and by the 1st of January 2026 they were falling apart across the mesh above the toes. I was using them for walking not a single run! I contacted my place of purchase and they initially denied a refund stating that they were ill fitting shoes and… Read more
that I had caused them to fall apart despite being fitted at the store. I have new balance 680s that are 4 years old and still in great condition. The Bondi 8's are without a doubt the poorest quality shoes I have ever owned. Having said that they were comfy.

Buyer beware of the Hoka Bondi 8 particularly if wearing Orthotics Would NOT recommend this shoe This is Athlete Foot response to my complaint: which indicates that less than 8 months part time wear of the shoe is normal and it appears they are… Read more
not suitable for orthotics due to foot being raised higher in shoe which may cause the back inside of shoe to breakdown. Thought this may be of interest to those considering this shoe who wear orthotics as you may want to choose another more suitable shoe and another brand. Very disappointed with POOR quality of these shoes.
Response from Athletes foot … also note Hoka directly would not review their product as I purchased from Athlete foot. “ After a thorough assessment of the information provided, it is our belief that the issue experienced is not a result of the product being defective. Rather, a result of the natural breakdown of materials over time, which is consistent with the age and wear of the product. This can be determined as the tread is well-worn. As for the heel collar wearing through, this can be from the orthotic raising the foot/heel in that area, which can cause friction to occur, and then a hole can appear.”
Follow-up · No follow up responses received from Hoka or Athletes foot to my complaint. I was fitted in store at Athletes Foot Marion South Australia. My fitting was with my orthotics inserted into shoe and this process was good. I wear the shoes when walking for around 45 minutes in a walking group. I have also New Balance 800 which I wear for equal amount… Read more
Comfortable from the very beginning. I live in these runners, even though they’re not that attractive. I’ve been wearing them for 12 months and the back of the inside heel/ankle area has worn through in patches but they are still wearable. Will buy Hoka’s again and would recommend. Show details
Have had a couple of pairs of Hoka Bondi. Like the comfort and support - wear frequently for walking, gym, trips overseas etc. But both have had the same problem. The lining material is too thin/soft/weak. Had to throw the first pair out (Bondi 8)when the lining at the back of the heel just wore away and all the foam just came loose, even though… Read more
the upper was still in excellent condition and the sole still had quite a bit of wear in it. Second pair are now a few months old (Bondi 9). Same problem - see photo. Bought a pair of Hoka Clifton at the same time as the second Bondi and wear them more than the Bondi, and there is no sign of wear in them. Hoka need to put better lining material in the Bondi.
Amazing cushioning – The cushioning you get in this shoe is amazing however it’s a very narrow fit I bought the extra wide and there still too narrow Show details · 1
Best shoe – Best running show ever. I had knee and hip troubles so ran on dry sand for ten years, to avoid impact on pavement. For me, this shoe was what got me back on the road. I own nine pairs, and they are so wonderful, all I can say is try them! Game changer! Show reply
