Does an insurer ask for payment of excess prior to approving a claim?

Low water pressure, double water bills, and floorboards warping and cupping where the incoming water pipe is. It doesn’t take 6 months, to work out what is happening here. In the nearly seven months it's taking you to work out what I knew day one, the rest of my newly renovated home has been destroyed by this leak and now, the whole house flooring needs replacing versus just one room. And still you need time to “investigate” where the leak is further.

I have had to move out as it's unliveable without water pressure and trip hazards. Investigate this, I've engaged a super lawyer and am suing you for the the total cost of my renovation. My question? Why haven't you done better? Talk to Amy at Stewart Insurance Brokerage they have lodged the most recent complaint.

It’s a conn, once to AFCA take it out of Hollards hands, refuse ur files, or what they like. Force you to court. AFCA look after the insurer, and you have a Insurance Contract. That is void by Cash settles offers, etc, if you accept …The systemic use of AFCA via hollard, refusing to respond, to force you out etc. systemic continuous, refuse to answer /emails, or any Q. They even make the IDR requests on purpose, Can only be made by You. Act against All laws, the PDS or make it up, even told me not to make any Claims.

Yep confirmed you dont action CLAIMS. Claims Blocked BEWARE THE HORRENDOUS Treatment of 1 million dollar house- BLOCKING ALTERING files, then refuse you the file, to hide it. Illegal. Even the statement me fix all this Maintenance which is their damage, their Trades. Brand new reclad they put silicone all over- every window colourbond frame, not window flashings- now told me to remove it as maintenance. BLOCKING CLAIMS- refusing inspections. Storms and flooding throughout the house- reported … YES BLOCK ME, even tried to Block a new Claim forced upon me, via refusing to answer. this was from Claim 1- put decline on accepted claim- altering files, accounting records- nothing matches- tell you to go externally knowing it cancels the claim- all rights- and AFCA are favourable to them. Notwithstanding refusal of any files- All claims closed then open, manipulations rife- Normal practice. Hope you dont fine out- when u see the file- they shut me down, Victimized . Beware of IDR- the word independent trades , independent dots. AFCA are a part of hollard, every insurer, They pay AFCA. Yep no chance in hell

I have been a customer with pensioners insurance since June 2020, however despite many requests for a paper copy of my policy and normal associated paperwork. Nothing ever is mailed to me. I don’t have any confidence in any claim I might make.I have not finished the policy detail as needed by insurer.

I don’t quite understand you asking Hollard or pensioners company? I only can tell you Hollard is a terrible rubbish insurance. You should ask AFCA to chase them they try to cheat customers.

Hi Anthony, it is unethical for your insurer not to provide you with the appropriate Policy documentation - they are required by law to supply you with the relevant Policy & Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) before issuing cover to you and that includes any renewals also. Assuming you are insured with ‘Australian Seniors’ who are underwritten by Hollard, you may be able to find the policy documents you seek from their website : external link  Ultimately though, I would suggest insuring your assets through a more reputable and transparent company or seeking assistance from a good broker, cheers.

Why is it when you ring to enquire about a claim you always go on hold for more than a hour and nobody ever answers and you can try at any time of the day and it's all ways the same thing

Your company is disgraceful, I keep seeing glib, sickly sweet, fake responses feigning interest and customer service integrity on this page. BUT, Its only to acknowledge a positive comnent, OR ... try to mask the POOR customer service AND POOR adherence to insurance integrity. I had multiple attempts via email and hours on phone trying to chase and resolve the most low value dollar issues despite my long and loyal, all premiums paid, no claim history..... to no avail. Be ASSURED I would USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY. (Wish I could get the offer of a "private" message or call... apparently 10 years of premiums doesn't earn this LOL... )

Wow...it really depends on who you deal with at Hollard insurance. I thought that things were being finalized after 4 months. Now I have to deal with another customer service rep who seems to be going against everything that I have been told before and have in email. Information, model #s etc of water damaged electrical items were sent through by restoration guys in December. I was told that JB hi fi would replace these soon. Now a different person is asking for model numbers, again!!! Do they lose information there? Someone is supposed to fix water damaged wooden furniture. Some items had to be thrown away. They want to give me less money for an item and now are asking for receipts...which of course I don't have after buying this furniture a while ago. I guess new for old is not true at all.

Be very careful. Things are dragged out and then you can be told totally different information.

Good luck with your claim. They will run you ragged hoping you will go away. Don't fall for this trap keep persisting with your claim and if need go to the ombudsman.
