A USELESS Retractable 30 M Retractable Hose Reel On our 2nd unit & contacted Holman about it,but that was nearly pointless a month ago,Retracted all the hose but for 2 metres,2 weeks ago,retracted all but 3 metres,a week ago,put Silicone spray all over the hose fully out & then retraced all but 13 metres this time Holman only have a 2 year warranty & ours this time was 3 year old Pathetic DO NOT TOUCH THEM
Follow-up · installation is the same as all retractable hose reels yes,the retractable did work for approximately 12 months & then after,it would not retract 100% until I contacted Holman,& they suggested that I spray the hose with Silicone Spray & that MADE IT 60% Worse The reason(in my view) was it was a CHEAP CHEAP JUNK,made in China
Nothing like the picture! – I recently purchased a Holman 30m Li-on battery retractable hose reel... and wanted a cover to protect the housing and battery pack from the elements (sun and water ingress). After viewing the pictures of the Holman cover online, and receiving confirmation of fitment, I ordered directly from Holman (as Bunnings no longer stock the covers... now I suspect why)...
Firstly, when the cover was delivered I was surprised to find it in such a tiny box measuring only 10.5 x 9.5 x 5.0 cm. I was further surprised to see how thin and flimsy the cover was. Then I was disappointed and somewhat annoyed to discover it is far too small to cover the 30m battery hose reel, and 'fits' nothing like as shown in the pictures...
I found when the rear is strapped so that it covers to the rear of the housing (as in the product pictures), it only covers a little of the battery, and is 20 cm short of covering the top to the front where the hose exits. So in order to gain as much length as possible, I reattached it at the rear with the Velcro strap passing through the middle of the mounting bracket, to then find it still only reaches to part way over the battery, and about 12 cm short of covering the top to the front. (The 3rd picture attached to this review is with the Velcro strap passing through the middle of the bracket to gain as much length as possible, yet still cannot stretch it anywhere near far enough)
I noted the 'representation' picture on the box shows the cover fully encasing the housing, and also with a small protrusion over where the hose comes out.
I advised Holman, along with providing supporting photos, that this is either the wrong cover, or simply: not fit for purpose. And requested they "Please send a cover which fits as pictured, or alternatively provide a refund."
I have had several back and forth emails with a 'technical service officer' who uses only one photo, disregards the other photos and my clear explanation of the issues... and keeps arguing I have not 'aligned it correctly' after initially stating it is made of Lycra and will stretch over the housing.
I elaborated to advise (and included photographic evidence); "The top section which is clearly too short does not “stretch”. It measures only 450mm when stretched/pulled out straight. Yet the distance over the top of the housing (to just the rear edge of the top) is 520mm, and is about 620mm to the actual rear of the housing. And these measurements don’t include allowing for the small overhang where the hose exits… as shown in the Holman misrepresentation photo (photo 1 of 3 that I emailed in my initial contact re the problem). The side sections also do not stretch… and they are smaller than the sides of the housing. Only the underside flaps are Lycra… and totally irrelevant in trying to make this fit. This cover will not fit anything like the picture on the box… in fact, the picture on the box is even of a different shape! (probably shown fitted over a 20m reel).
It seems I am now being ignored.
Anyone thinking of buying this cover will surely be similarly disappointed, and I suspect would receive the same argumentative responses.
Having since read other customers reviews on a variety of Holman products... I will not by purchasing any more Holman products! Buyer beware.
Checked all email. Tried everything suggested. But same Simply does not fit (anything like the listed pictures, and it's impossible to protect even the top from sun and water ingress). The so-called 'service' agent still repeatedly ignored the sent descriptions, the fact that it is not 'made of lycra' as he stated, and the accurate measurements taken along with the photographic evidence sent. I eventually received a refund after an abundence of emails. Incidentally, I found an outboard motor cover that is made of far superior material fitted well... also at a lower price. The outboard cover properly protects the hose reel from sun damage, and keeps the battery and controls dry.

Hi Brad, We replied to your last email on Monday just after lunch (1.54pm Perth local time), our email included a full pictorial explanation of how the cover fits, we also included measurements to assure you we were using the same cover size as you. As mentioned in our email the cover shown on the box (of the cover) is on a standard 30m retractable reel, the Lithium Reel, while larger, is still able to use the 30m cover. Please check your junk mail folder in case our email (with many photos) was directed to junk/spam. Unfortunately, we can't upload the photos here, so we do ask that you check your email. These covers have never been for sale in Bunnings stores, so ordering from us is the only purchase option.
