Good Value, Easy to Install – I have an old single fold garage door motor that stopped working. Worried that I might need to spend $150 on a callout fee and probably another ~$500 when they would predictably say that it needed replacing, I decided to have a look at the range at Bunnings. Initially I was thinking of going for the $270 Chamberlain model, but in the store noticed the HomEntry model for $199. The Chamberlain came with a 5 year warranty, and the HomEntry. These are designed for sectional doors, but work just as well with single fold doors like mine.

The HomEntry model also came with 2 portable remotes, while the Chamberlain had one portable, and another that is portable but is designed to connect to the dash.

I decided to give the cheaper one a try and pocket the $70, and was really happy with the choice.

Installation was fairly straightforward, and instructions were easy to follow. There were quite a few brackets etc that helped me attach it to my garage roof, but I did need to buy a few additional brackets from Bunnings after starting installation (only about $2 each) due to the shape of my garage.

The remotes worked straight out of the box and did not need to be programmed. They also have a feature called rolling code, which apparently makes it hard for a criminal to copy your code and remotely clone your remote, as it puts out a new number combination every time.

Now it's installed it works really well, is quiet, and the child safety feature works really well.

So far so good and really happy with it and it saved me a packet.
