HP Compaq Pro 6300 All-in-One – Managed to evaluate a hp compaq pro 6300 and sadly it is probably one of the worst aio desktop i've come across with. Screen: Lots of bleeding on the screen edges. There is a very slight vertical noise throughout the screen, mostly evident on a white or very light coloured background. You'll have to closely look at it but its there. Speaker:

Bottom speaker sound is pretty soft it's quite useless for watching movies or listening to music.

Looks:

I quite like the simplistic business design. Non intrusive and it is not seeking for attention. Ie less distraction. The monitor stand is very heavy & solid but quite good in positioning the screen to the users liking.

The other option is mounting these on a compatible vesa 100 desktop or wall mounts. Quite easy to do.

Other functions:

Lacking any physical controls for adjusting volume or screen brightness or contrast.

Noise:

Hp is not as silent as the dell optioplex 9010 aio or even the lenovo m92z. With the dell you will have to pretty much put your ear next to the screen to hear it. Hp unit is not noisy at all, but due to the larger opening vents on top, you will hear the fans working.

Processing power:

Hp compaq 6300 pro is a great machine for the usual business apps. That is all i tested it for. The unit i tested was an i7 machine.

Wifi:

Quite disappointed when i booted it up expecting it to have an intel widi compatible wireless card. Instead it has a broadcom base card. I wanted to explore the widi functionality as it was an option stated in the brochures that i was interested in.

Expandability:

Extremely disappointed! Although this unit has easier panel access at the back... It has a warranty seal that states if its broken it reverts to limited warranty (most likely becomes 1yr? Instead of the 3-3-3). Being a competent systems & network engineer, pulling it apart and say... Upgrading the wireless card to a compatible widi, putting in a ssd and adding more ram is a cakewalk. Quite annoyed about the restrictions in breaking this seal!

Accessories:

Standard usb keyboard & mouse! Could have at least included decent wireless key & mouse. In saying that i hate the fact that most hp keyboard lettering easily comes out after a few months of use.

Overall:

Better options out there! Quite concerning about the noise display issue and very evident backlight bleeding around the edge. Coupled with weak speakers & the annoying inclusion of a broadcom wifi that removes the ability of widi..... I will not recommend these machines for anything else other than working on the usual business productivity software.

Was looking at deploying these on a large scale (50+ units) as it was a perfect size for the office. Having paid equivalent costs of a dell optiplex 9010 (which was too big for our office limited desk spaces) these hp machines are not good enough for what it offers! Design. Easy on the eyes. Display vertical noise. Backlight Bleeding on the Edges. No intel Wireless for WIDI. Standard Keyboard & mouse
