Not only a fantastic service na product (Icebox) but amzing service as well. After 2.5 years the fan in my Icebox started failing ( making grinding noise). I connacted then to fget the details of the fan so I could purchase a replacement. Instead they sent me a new fan free of charge
Follow-up · Replacement was fiddly to fit due to it small size, but achievable. I believe the bearingd in the fan were wearing out as it made a growling noise while running. Shipping took only a couple of days. New fan is performing as it should. I Still believe both the company and the product are Excellent.
Fantastic service and follow up – I have been using ICE TV with my Humax recorder for quite a few years now and it has always worked well. I have also purchased an ICEBOX recorder from Ice TV and it too , works well. Last weekend , a fan in the unit failed. My request for assistance was responded to immediately ( on Sunday ! ) and the issue was diagnosed and a replacement unit… Read more
shipped to me the next day.
The follow up and immediate answers to my questions regarding the unit and its configuration were also immediately answered via email. I cannot remember any such service from ANY other supplier I have dealt with in the past...
My view is that you can judge a supplier when things are going well, but you gain more insights into the supplier when something goes wrong. ( which with technology , it happens... )
Fantastic service and follow up..
From Foxtel to Ice TV, a great move – After 23 years of Foxtel, I transitioned to ICE TV I purchased a Humax PVR and now I am online. Start up was personalised and I am really pleased with my switch. 10 out of 10 for prompt service
Fantastic support – I have used this service for years. When I had a problem, they were very quick to resolve it, even with personal phone follow-ups and proactive support for when there was a problem but I hacn't detected it yet. Cannot recommend this service enough.
Love ICETV – Id recon its one of the best programme guides there is, so easy to use, had it for over 10 years with Topfield and Beyonwiz devices, highly recommended if you find others messy.
bosses are sarcastic – tried to log on but couldnt.Contacted support, they told me i was wrong.I have my password written down, tried various varients and nothing.when tried after recieving response magically i logged in.Cancelled account next
Records your shows when they're aired - because you cannot rely on the networks to keep a schedule – I have been using Ice TV for a year or so and find it the best way to schedule recordings; especially for series, 1st runs. The website is easy to use - finding programs, adding them as favourites and setting recording options. When a new season begins for a series, IceTV finds the show and begins recording, even when it changes networks if that… Read more
option is selected.
I have found a few times that a show will be missed so I quickly check recordings sent to the PVR about once a week and make necessary adjustments. I think the shows are missed due to the inconsistency in broadcasting shows on time and according to the schedule.
I also find the upcoming shows feature 'Coming Soon' view good as I'll see a show advertised on a network and decide to give it a go. Search for the show in Coming Soon and schedule a series recording - all good.
I have had two support issues which were addressed quickly and professionally by support, through the use of the online help request. One of these was a problem with a channel where I had set channel preferences to both North and South transmitters in our area. The support technician identified the issue, fix it and in the email explained the problem and that it had already been fixed. The second problem was in the IceTV EPG where a channel 'triplet' wasn't recognised. A few emails back and forth with some troubleshooting by me and we had the EPG working for the channel. This was less than 24 hours after my submitting on a Sunday afternoon with the first few responses on Sunday.
If you have a PVR that can use the IceTV service and are tired of chasing your series across different days, times, channels, or networks, give it a go.
4 stars and if it didn't miss the occasional show, 5 stars.
We count on it and it does a great job – We are long-standing Ice TV subscribers and without doubt it does a great job at a good price. Our old PVR gradually faded away and ICE TV customer service was prompt and professional in helping to overcome its foibles. With our new PVR, Ice TV provides even better service. A short time with the iPad app and the week's viewing is all set up. … Read more
Skipping adds is a big bonus.
Remember the old tape recorders for TV and how dreadfully clunky and annoying they were? IceTV and modern PVRs are dream in comparison.
Great idea, Great Service – Have been an Ice TV customer for many years. We have had 1 previous PVR that was compatible with ITV, the second PVR we bought direct from ITV which supposedly had a lifetime subscription to ITV. After the company got into financial trouble and was reincarnated I then had to pay for the subscription. I didn't really mind because I love how it… Read more
works. I can and do check the TV guide from the other side of the world and record TV shows. Set keywords to record eg 'Garden' or 'Formula One' , record only new episodes of say 'big bang' .
Recording at home is a breeze, you can set for one-off or series recordings, skip adds, re-wind and record shows etc.
This review is for the Ice TV Service, not the PVR so keep this in mind. It's a cool bit of technology.
Daylight saving is a pain due to changes in time zones (I live on the NSW / QLD border ). The App is a little clunky and the software on the PVR and ITV has some minor user interface problems although isn't an issue once you get to know how it all works.
Ice TV is a diamond. It's unique and brilliant but just lacks a little polish.
Note, App has been recently updated and works a treat ! New firmware for my PVR is in the pipeline as well.
Reliable Service – We've been using the Ice TV Guide for a number of years now on Beyonwix PVRs. I find it reliable, up to date and generally better than the alternatives. It is also available longer in advance. It is a bit hard to set up - on the Beyonwiz but that could be a Beyonwiz problem. They often have special renewal prices, which brings the price per month… Read more
down. We only use a single time zone.
Update: Of course Ice TV went bankrupt 6 months after I wrote this review, and a lot of people lost money. They are trying to restart the service, but it is once bitten, twice shy for me.
Worse than Terrible ZERO star rating required – Agree with Terrible a couple of reviews above. We live on 2 timezones and require both sets of channels, but when recording we end up with 2 sets of everything and then cant watch anything else. We contact ICE TV customer service and respectfully request a refund of our lifetime subscription, only to be told, that we would have no reason to be on… Read more
a dual timezone. Yes we do we live at Tweed Heads on 2 timezones for 5 months of the year. This so called service representative is so rude, I cant believe it. Then he tells us we dont need the guide???? So if we dont need the guide then we are entitled to a refund, as the service is not a service at all.
DONT GET SUCKED INTO BUYING THIS SERVICE.
Terrible – What an awful service, I cant believe I have to pay for this. It totally screws up all recordings when daylight savings changes and always fails when any change is made to the TV guide. It is $99 a year to find out what is on tv and record the things you want to watch which is free on other devices.
IceTV Product Support – The story: I bought the Netstream DTT from EyeTV off the IceTV website. In general the pricing was pretty competitive at that time. About 3 months into the product I had a problem with one of the tuners, and the box resetting into an in-contactable state. I first followed up with the product vendor, who made no mention of it not being… Read more
supported anymore, and also further suggested that their software checker was working and that it must be a "user" error.
I had taken a screen capture of the exact process that I was doing to basically argue that device wasn't contactable, but decided to contact IceTV first.
The Response:
They pretty much apoligised for the inconvenience, contacted the vendor to get a return authority and sorted me out with a postal address to return the device to.
Upon receiving confirmation form the receiving party the would credit my money back.
I occasionally had to prod them about how it was all going, but in general received a response as soon as I did which lead to the next steps.
When the expiry date of the return authority was reached I did need to contact IceTV to follow up. They indicated that the supplier is typically forgetting to confirm receipt of returns and so they chased them up, and pretty much refunded me for the defective product.(Not including any postage and handling).
My thoughts:
To send the device back it cost me $20 bucks, for a $290 product. I also thought better to send it registered post. Which I didn't indicate to them. I think they probably should have sent a courier to pick it up and provide me with a refund upon confirmation with the courier.
Interestingly enough their responses were no nonsense, and lined up nicely with the postal tracking. They stood behind the product and dealt with the vendor on my behalf, which to me is how it should be.
Even after I asked for a new device they basically said no-can-do (device not made anymore) and didn't try to funk up the response with an alternative non-desired product replacement.
Overall I am happy with IceTVs response, it was a near perfect demonstration that they are aware of the Australian Consumer Laws (fit for purpose and all that) and inspired confidence in me to treat them as a local representative that I will stick with should I need a new PVR, and they are selling it.
By following the consumer laws it was a demonstration to me why I might go with local reps and pay a little more rather than having to deal with cagey responses from overseas. Reasonably responsive, stood behind product, no fuss postage and handling
Good idea - bad in practice – Frequently doesn't record for no reason. Supposed to email me if their is a recording problem but very seldom does. Service is terrible with email replies taking weeks on an ongoing matter. So frustrated that I sent an email to the Director that if they have so little interest they may as well close the ticket and go no reply there either.… Read more
Nearly everytime you have a problem they make you reset your unit from the start (including when Daylight Saving start and finish). As the new model Topfields appear to no longer offer IceTV there may be no advantage to paying for the service in the future. Can record series even if episodes are moved. Remote recording. Frequently fails to record. Poor customer service.
