InSinkErator 45+

Great Value – The insinkarator in the home I brought was 7 years old,this was clearly marked on the insinkarator.i have used it for 6 years with no problems until recently.and am now replacing it Excellent value,only negative, a little bit noisy.

This model is the bottom rung of the models. It is also in the same place for durability – This model was a replacement supplied by Insinkerator to replace a model 45 that was around 2 years old and leaking from the bottom. Thank you Insinkerator! After about 3-4 years the plate has rusted through in 2 places allowing chunks of material to pass through and block the drain. After pulling the drain apart to remove material, I shone a torch into the Insinkerator. The rusting was surprising after such a short time. I have replaced it with a Model 46 which for all intent, seems to be the same as the model 45+, the only thing seems to be the place of manufacture. The Model 45+ has made in china on the label and the Model 46 has Made in the USA emblazoned on the box. To be honest, I wish my budget allowed me to purchase the next model or so up as they have stainless steel plates and the rusting problem would be solved. The other problem of the seals giving way to allow leaking out of the bottom may well still be a factor with these upper models - I have no experience with them. But I can say to Insinkerator - please stop producing machines with galvanised plates as they are a great disappointment for an otherwise great product.

insinkerator 25 – Same problem as the 45 review. the base of motor has water leaking out of it or shows rust stains. motor now shorts out 5 years old.

Doesn't last long – When I bought this house 6 years ago it had an Insinkerator 45, it died soon after, so I replaced it same model for ease of install. I noticed from day 1 it seemed noisy but worked ok, until it started throwing the earth leakage switch. A close investigation revealed it was leaking out the bottom past the seals. A quick call to a plumber confirmed my suspicions, it was a throwaway. It was about 2.5 years old.

I replaced it again, this one seems better so far, quieter.. Wouldn't be without one. Leaking internal seals, out of warranty period and couldn't find receipt.
