OK – The ifp-700 series are in high demand! is it because its a good mp3 player...... of course not, the only reason these things are popular (and very expensive) is because they have the ability to record and external microphone without the need for a pre-amp. Using the mp3 player for music..... for 256mb internal memory and the prices these things are going at, your better off getting something else.

Conclusion- great if you need external mic input- try something else for listen to mp3's. Mic-in recording capability

Playback sound is pretty decent

accessories (rain cover, neck strap etc.) are pretty good No in built battery

only 256 mb internal memory

navigation through menus is irritating

Hold slider annoying to operate

Good – I would recommend this player if you only need 512mb of memory, and its compact size makes it a good mp3 player for going to the gym with. Excellent sound, sound quality, display and size. It's compact, smooth, elegant and aesthetic. It has to be one of the best sounding flash players I have ever listened to and it has a lot of different EQ settings (like surround sound). The joystick is probable the only con about this mp3 player, apart from the very slow transfer when using the USB mass storage upgrade. Sometimes, it really hard to get the joystick to select the function you want it too (can get really fustrating_
