Has been an excellent product – iRiver eReader We had the same problem with the iRiver ereader. My husband was given this for a special birthday by a friend of his. It was fine for a while and then Google withdrew its support. For years it lay abandoned and I wrote to the iRiver people, to no avail. I discovered (and this is in its manual) that I could log on to our local… Read more
library (we are members) and download ebooks to my computer via Adobe Digital Editions (a free download). Once downloaded, I could then transfer to the iRiver device by right-clicking on the book and sending to Story HD. Not only that the books are free. Hope this helps. It is a little tricky to get used to but it works and he has had years of use until today when the front page of his iRiver became frozen.
Reasonable tablet, could be improved – I was given this tablet by a friend who no longer needed it. While it is very convenient, and has helped me get back into reading regularly, there are a few glaring issues I feel could have been caught during product testing. The zoom feature is useful for reading PDFs with smaller text, but you cannot move around the screen once you are zoomed… Read more
in. I have also had problems with the device not automatically loading the page I was up to. However I suspect this has more to do with my manually uploading PDF files, rather than legitimately adding ePub files.
Overall this is an adequate product, and I will continue to use it until it dies.
HOW TO USE MY IRIVER SINCE CHANGES – Im unable to upload books on to my iriver now - can anyone help - im so disappointed with the new upgrade that you cant download direct from google. I feel this product was a waste of money and extremely disappointed.
No longer supported by google and Iriver Australia website no longer exists – Used to love this product, until the iriver australia website vanished and now I'm struggling to get tech support. Story HD is no longer supported by Google Play and books will have to be manually loaded onto ereader. The main selling point for me was the Google Play functionality and now that it no longer has it it feels as though money could… Read more
have been better spent on a more superior product. Used to be fantastic when it worked with google. absolutely loved it until now. No longer supported by google. Iriver no longer has australian customer service.
Fantastic reader – I've had the iriver for 6 months and havent had a problem the screen is great. I didn't won't a touch screen because you have to clean them constantly ( I also have an ipad). It's lightweight, i love that I can expand the memory if needed. The books on google are cheaper the amazon you can also download other books on your computer and load… Read more
them onto the iriver. It"s absolutely fantastic. The battery life is amazing! Lightweight, portability, screen is very clear, battery life Accessories are hard to find, but some of the kindles do fit (cases and lights)
So much better than a book – The e-book reader is just like reading a book but better. You don't have to hold the bookopen, you never lose your page and it is lighter than a book to hold. Easy on the eyes, very light to hold and take anywhere. Easy to download lots of books, some free, others cheaper than the paper version. Higher definition than other ebook readers Show reply
iriver HD screen susceptible to breaking – Bought this because the screen resolution is excellent, and while isnt touchscreen or do some of the other fancy things, for reading a book it was the clearest I could find. However after 6 mths the screen is cracked (have to throw away), it must have taken a knock at some point (though we cant recall anything specific) even though I have it in… Read more
