J.Burrows Micro Cut Shredder S3606
MPN: JBSHS36063 reviews
Just want to confirm other reviewers...I now feel like I'm not alone! Very heavy, at least 4kg to lift the top to empty the paper, and the only accessible place to do this is at the front to try and grasp the whole thing and lift. Have to try and prise it up by also holding onto the back part where the cord is, and have to be conscious of not… Read more
damaging that! Absolutely hopeless for anyone a bit frail or disabled. Also, despite reversing frequently during shredding to release paper that's accumulated in the shredding thingys, you still have to remove the paper by hand, resulting in having to balance the heavy top and of course the little bits of paper go everywhere! Can't believe how bad the design is...
Problem lifting head of shredder to empty – Heavy and difficult to empty. Needs a handle to lift head out of machine to empty. Could easily be dropped and damage the shredder or floor tiles. No instructions in the manual about emptying. Otherwise a good shredder, just a design fault. Because you pay less for a smaller shredder, it should have basic features eg a handle or a side opening to empty the shredder, similar to the larger shredders. Show details
JBurrows paper shredder that is extremely difficult to empty – Purchased at Officeworks on 29th May 2024.This unit has 8 years warranty but I suspect the S3606 won't live that long. I paid $113.66 for it. The reason is the dreadful ergonomic design of the cutting head as it badly lacks handles or "ears" to enable the 4.5 kg head to be gripped safely and lifted clear of the collection bin. The instructions… Read more
offer no information about removing the head to empty the bin.
Basically the sides and back edges are flush with the collection bin.
At the front of the cutting head there is an access into the bin ,an opening perhaps 20mm wide at its maximum, tapering back to 10mm either end over a length of 200mm.
This allows gripping the cutting head to lift out of the bin recess only with a couple of fingers of my right hand can reach down under cutting head. With the left hand I can only lift if I force my finger nails into the minuscule gap between the cutting head and the bin. I for see that it could be very easy to lose the left hand grip on the head and the head crash to the floor and hurt my feet.
My previous shredder was a JBurrows and was extremely easy and safe to empty as it had what amounted to grips to easily lift it. Unfortunately it just wore out over 15 years or so.
On the positive side the S3606 cuter head does and extremely good job in shredding sheets which I can compost.I am not impressed at all. I cannot recommend the S3606 shredder to anyone because of the above mentioned safety concerns.
