2 Neil  · Beef porterhouse steak. My first time experience at Aldi Townsville. Worst steak I had the misfortune of buying.Never again.
1 Paul C.  · These Aldi steaks looked nice and were very well priced. Sadly, however, they were as tough as old boots! I would never buy them again!
1 danielle Sharpe  · Bad steak – Had steak many times but this time was terrible. So chewy and fatty. Could not eat it !!
1 Olly  · Porterhouse doesn’t cut the mustard – Comparatively cheap but just doesn’t cut it. Spend more & get better quality.
3 Hevan  · Scotch Fillet Jindurra Station – Not up to standard, rather tough, will not buy again.
1 Lyn T.  · We purchased from Aldi Kenmore and very poor quality. Very chewy and wasted a lot – We won’t purchase from Aldi in the future. The meat was very tough.

Have tried this meat from Aldi a number of times and never found anything nice or delicious about, in fact I would say it’s like eating leather and tastes the same. They must slaughter the oldest cows they can find, it’s the toughest most awful meat I have ever and I have emailed Aldi years ago and told them, but thought I would try again to see if it had improved, my score “0”.Don’t waste your money on this brand Show details

How sad, I had no idea how bad the quality is on beef scotch fillets. Inedible, chewing for 10 minutes and wont even breakdown to swallow. Just ate the vegetables. Very sad. Show details

It’s appalling that the quality of Australian steak is like biting on a mouth guard, for 3 weeks I have brought the same product thinking there would be some improvement. But I was wrong…. Maybe we should open our markets to U.S beef? We’re being feed rubbish steak. Show details

No fry just boil – Try to make a stew with their rump steak $826 grams I'll probably got a cup of water out of it it doesn't fry it boiled. Usually I buy from butcher but I was in Aldi so I thought I'd try it we'll be the last time. Show details

Ive read some negative reviews of Jindurra beef but I suspect the cooking was the problem. My experience has all been good. I cooked and ate a porterhouse steak today and as always it was great. Fresh, juicy tender with the flavour of good beefsteak. I last had one about 5 days ago which was just as good. Show details

Absolutely delicious! Tried it for the very first time tonight and the porterhouse steak was amazing. I have no idea why so many find their steak so tough. Steak has to be cooked a certain way. Turn a lot and don't cook it until it is tough and overdone, but take it off while it is still tender. Cook it also at a hot temperature, so it cooks… Read more

really fast. If it is too tender, that is too pink, then just wack it back in the frypan for a few more minutes. No secret. Jindarra Station beef is really good from what I have tasted anyway.

Aldi Townsville – We are new Aldi customers in Townsville. We tried Porterhouse Steak Bulk. Nice, soft and tasty. We like it medium rare. Very happy with steaks. I also got mince to make rissoles and meat balls. Surprised mince did not turn soggy when cooking. Had this bad experience with other brands. Aldi you have 5 stars in quality. We have 5 stars in making delicious meals.

Worst meat I’ve ever had – What a waste of money, wife and I looked forward to a tender steak but it was like chewing on leather. How shameful to call it Australian meat! How do I get my money back after I cooked it??? It’s a scam to sell such poor quality meat and advertise it as tender and juicy. Show details

Poor quality of Jindurra Porterhouse steak – I purchased Jindurra porterhouse steak 200gm pack for $7 at Aldi, Darra on 3 April. It was more or less tasteless and unchewable when cooked medium rare on my bbq. I complained to the Aldi manager at Darra yesterday and received a full refund. I advised the manager to try it herself but she said she wouldn't as she didn't eat meat. I advised it… Read more

was misleading to market that steak as porterhouse but she said the product couldn't be traced and their was nothing she could do about it. Very disappointed in Aldi's response of lack of concern for the quality of this product.

Aldi Steaks – Well it’s just like any other supermarket chain, and ALdi Jindarra steaks are awful. Hard to cook, weird colour when cooked, really tough and chewy

Printed meat – This is not real meat, it can only be described as printed. There was a strap of fat across the top of the steak as if there was an error in "printing" when the steaks were manufactured... Now I've brought a whole porterhouse before and cut it into steaks and never have I seen a flat strap of fat like that between or on any surface of the meat, I… Read more

wish I'd taken a photo it made me sick real meat just doesn't look like that even the texture was not right and if this was real porterhouse steak that is the most grissle and fat I've ever seen on a steak. Offcouse I cut the ungodly looking strap of fat off but this thing was just virtually inedible.

Appeal to change the Australian Beef Grading System – Ask your MP, reseller, and the beef industry to switch to a mandatory grading system, know the grade your eating. I found that the beef met the description, it was the correct cut, but was not graded based on quality. How does one know what the quality is if there isn’t a grading system? Canada and USA beef grading system grades each individual… Read more

carcass into grades based on marbling, weight, age: Prime, AAA, AA, A. etc

So market value of say AAA Porterhouse (New York Strip) can be shopped around as the quality is “similar” regardless of source and reseller. Eg $45kg for AAA; $25kg for AA; and $15kg for A-grade. And 20 cows from the same paddock may be graded into AAA, AA, and A even though they all grew up together.

I have found Australia to be selling grade A beef at AAA pricing.

Wouldn’t even feed it to my dog – It looked nice in the packaging but that’s it We ended up throwing it out just after we started eating it , we have tried Aldi rump & porterhouse and both are good for the bin only I think they need to source quality steak from a reputable supplier Show details

Terrible Porterhouse Steak – We have bought the Jindurra brand porterhouse steak twice from Aldi. The first time we cooked it we could hardly cut it with a steak knife after cooking. Chewing it was impossible. We thought maybe it was just a one off incident and some months later decided to give it another try. Second time same result. We contacted Aldi and told them about it.… Read more

To be fair, they did say to bring the receipt in and they would give us another Porterhouse pack of meat. We declined because what would be the point??? All of the other comments here only bear out the shocking quality of the Jindurra brand. We will never buy that brand from Aldi again.

Worse’s steak – We kill our own but ran out of steak so bought scotch fillet $30 for 6 prices and it looked good as we are from a butchering family it was the worsted steak we have ever eaten. I think know we will go to a butcher shop and get our steak and after that experience I think we all should support a butcher Show details

Poor quality. Tough ,gristle, very little taste – Looked ok in the pack but ended up terrible. Probably the poorest steak I have ever cooked and could not eat. More gristle than edible meat. It had very little taste and was more like stewed steak than quickly bbqed. Will definitely not buy this again Show details

Toughest beef steak we have ever has – I consider myself a pretty good cook, but this porterhouse steak was tough, gristly and inedible. My husband persisted and tried to chew it but gave up in the end. I have tried Jindurra steaks before and have never been satisfied. Have learnt my lesson. Returned the cooked steak to the store and was given my money back. Show details

Toughest steak I’ve ever had, needed blending – Porterhouse steak so tough it had to be cut into tiny pieces and even they took some chewing. Taste was ok and cooked perfectly, but the toughest steak I’ve ever encountered there’s and I’ve had some tough ones in the past 50 years.
