Buyer beware JVC Warranty is terrible – Whist the projector gets RAVE reviews for having great Blacks, and is supposedly great for movies, etc, There is one massive issue with this product. IT's JVC, and the UNDISCLOSED dead pixel policy. My shiny New $8000RRP projector arrived with a dead pixel. It has taken nearly 5 months to get JVC Kenwood in Japan to respond to the issue, (not in writing either, only over the phone where I get told repeatedly, it's out of his control, sorry sir, you have to live with a lemon). Apparently its up to the service managers discretion, (in Australia) as to what they should do about me having received a Lemon.

You see you cannot replace a panel, you have to replace the entire LCD and PRISM Block, This is apparently Thousands of dollars. So after months of to-ing and fro-ing with JVC in Sydney and sending pictures and measurements of the Pixels location, then taking the projector to 2 repair centres, for adjustments, and testing, and everyone waiting endlessly for a response. They said, Its within acceptable tolerance!!!!! NO WHERE on JVC's web site or manual specifies that DEAD PIXELS are acceptable.

I would never have purchased a JVC had I known this. I feel cheated and ripped off. I will be going to the ACCC, as this is beyond a joke and totally unacceptable.

I have 166" cinema scope screen, meaning the image is zoomed out to fill a very wide screen, This makes 1 pixel the size of a 20 cent piece. It's obvious, it obtrusive, and it not ACCEPTABLE.

Projectors 1/4 the price have dead pixel warranty, especial;;y when its dead Out-Of-The-Box! That's DOA.

Now regarding the quality of the picture, besides the dead pixel. SOFT, at this size the picture is soft, lacking details, Maybe I need to spend $600 more to get it fine tuned, but this is due to it having 3 panels, and thanks to distortions in the lens and the distance, etc, needs a LOT of fine tuning. This is a difficult and time consuming task. The picture out of the box is ordinary, you need to get deep into the convoluted menu to find the ISF calibration menus, and really fine tune it. Again, it requires a professional with professional equipment to set it up. Then there is the menu system, slow, painfully slow to change settings, modes etc. Not good, awkward and disappointing at this price point. INPUT lag is terrible, it's so slow do not connect any gaming consoles or computers to this projector, you will regret it. Bottom line, I feel cheated out of my hard earned, no reviews I have ever read spelled out the issues with this projector... Not happy. If my dealer can't help me I'll be off to Consumer affairs.

PS The seller swapped it out for a newer model the x7900, which was far better in every respect, but had the same dead pixel warranty so I stubbornly sold it and bought a Epson TW9400 instead.
