I recently used Timber Heritage Mouldings for the restoration and detailing of myy turn-around verandah. I couldn’t be happier with the result. From start to finish, the experience was seamless. The mouldings were of good quality and craftsmanship.
Absolutely love the quality of the product we purchased, the fretwork is stunning. From the first phone call they were realistic on time frames (given I called over Christmas) but I was in no rush. There was a slight hiccup with a missing measurement needed but they quickly had it out for delivery within days of receiving confirmation.
Karem made an archway for me in my garden to match a drawing we did together at the store . Took Round 6 weeks to be delivered looks better than I imagined . Really happy overall . (The only thing I would say is told me 4 weeks ) but I get it .
Fretwork – I Just picked my fretwork for my hallway , I sent the lady an image on email and they copied it. She sent me a photo when it was drawn for me to approve and the process was awesome .
gates and fences – the guys at karem woodcraft , built my fence and gates at the factory ready for install . it took around 7 ish weeks . im really happy wit it , they copied a photo i took from a neighbor. looks perfect , communication could be better
Verandah post – They matched my rotting verandah postsfrom a photo in 5 weeks , good service and they delivered to our house . Happy with the experience and I will absolutely use them again . Cheers
An exceedingly arduous experience – After placing our order and completing the payment, we were initially informed that our products would be delivered within three weeks. The actual delivery time, however, stretched to a staggering 3 months during which we made numerous attempts through emails and phone calls to finally receive the items we had paid for. Various reasons were… Read more
given for the extended delay, and we also encountered additional accidental missteps, including delivery attempts at the wrong address, an issue that we repeatedly flagged with Karem's team.
In an attempt to improve the situation, the company extended a goodwill gesture in the form of a beer slab upon the eventual delivery of our order. Although we understand the intention behind this offer, it unfortunately did not adequately compensate for the significant inconveniences and delays that had disrupted our other trades.
In conclusion, I must express my strong reservations about recommending this business to others.
Really happy with my fretwork – Took 6 weeks ,made to size overall it was great. The delivery was pretty long after it left took 2 weeks from store to my house . Happy with end result
Disgusted.......watch out – Accepted a quote for a custom made double door awning. I required the width & degree of angle different from the window awning and so paid in full three times more than the usual price. Received article from pickup and consequently found that the angle was the same as the window awning and not what I paid a large amount of money for. Disgusted. Watch out!
Don’t waste your time – I ordered a set of steps & stringers, I was told 2-3 weeks. They took full payment. After 4 weeks with no phone call I had to contact them. I was then told it’s not ready it will be another 2 weeks. 3 weeks later I had to contact them, again not ready. Eventually after calls upon calls it was ready for me to pick up even though I paid & booked for… Read more
delivery. A delivery date was made & they never turned up (wasted day). Eventually it turned up all damaged & not even tied down in the back of the van no doubt smashing about in the back. I complained about the damage…..pointless excuses. Took 9 weeks and not one apology or phone call from the boss because of the complaints or delay. Later I found out it was the boss I was dealing with absolutely no hope. 35 years a tradie probably one of if not the worst dealings I’ve had.
Stay away – If you're dealing with Scott, i suggest you go elsewhere. He's not only rude and uninterested, but argumentative. Turns out, he doesn't know how to read emails, but still abuses you and yells at you when it turns out he ignored the information provided. Luckily, we were able to prove their mistake in the end, but certainly left a very bad taste.
Avoid dealing with this company – We recently accepted a quote from Karem Woodcraft to build and deliver to us in Sydney a Tasmanian oak headboard, built to particular specifications. They never followed through with the construction and delivery, of the headboard. In the end, we had to use the credit card transactions dispute procedure of our bank to recover the funds that were paid. The entire experience was most unsettling and disturbing.
Excellent kit - has everything you need and easy to follow instructions – The hardest part for me was having to dig through a tree root with a 30cm diameter. I am a DIYer, not a builder, not even a handyman by any stretch of the imagination but I did build a 55sqm deck recently with everything planned out except for the stairs which I was originally going to get someone else to build. Well that didn't eventuate and… Read more
some of the quotes I got back were nothing short of robbery, so I looked into alternatives.
This one popped up on the site for Demak https://www.demak.com.au/shop/building-materials/stairs-steps-and-staircases/flat-pack-treated-pine-stairs-240x45-includes-fixings/ which included everything needed except for how you need to attach them.
I ordered the 6 tread x 1200mm wide and cut them down to 1000mm to suit my needs. This is an amazingly cheap option which with the sawtooth center stringer (not required but was going to use it anyway) came to $600 delivered.
It took me the better part of 2 days to complete as I did it on my own in 35-40 degree heat, but a lot of that time was to dig the holes for the stirrups I was concreting in to attach the bottom of the stairs. Cutting through a series of 30cm diameter roots was the main cause for delay.
The assembly for the stairs themselves was pretty straight forward. Using the screws supplied it was simply a matter of attaching the treads to the stringers, working out where the stairs would fall then concreting in the stirrups and attaching the stairs.
I attached the stairs using a piece of 90x45 to the plinth on the deck under the top step and then using a series Pryda multigrips nailed to hold it in place and then used 2x 75mm treated timber screws from the back of the plinth into the stringers. You probably don't need to do that much as the weight is taken mostly at the bottom, but I would rather over do it than under. I attached the stringers at the bottom using 2x hex head bolts. Obviously how you do it is completely up to you, if you are not sure you should probably contact someone who does. I am sure the guys at Demak could if you order through them.
They came up looking a treat. If I had a little more money to splash I would have gone to a local timber / hardware place and replaced the treads with Merbau to match the rest of the deck, but instead settled for a stain which still looks pretty dam good. I have also used some of the spare timber from the deck to close out the steps which looks great.
