I have arthritis and bought the opener to open the pull top cans of my pet food cans. It does not. Very disappointing and a waste of money. Kenwood would not refund me.

Very disappointing appliance – This appliance took way longer than a manual opener because the can kept falling of the drive roller and was difficult to put back on. Will be taking it back to the shop.

Opens Australian made cans with ease – I purchased my Kenwood can opener for under $20 from The Good Guys a couple of months ago. It works fine on Australian manufactured cans. I had a little trouble using it to open some tins that are imported from Asian countries because they are made with a thinner rim lip around the top of the can. These thinner rims make it difficult for the Kenwood to grip onto and cut the can.

I found the knife sharpener useful on thicker knives but it struggled to sharpen my set of Raco Professional Choice knives because they have a thin edge. It was not possible for thin edged knives to get in close enough to touch the sharpening stones.

I have never bothered to test the the bottle opener but it is nice to know it is there.

I like the way the start lever can be easily removed from the unit. This feature along with the magnet make it easy to dispose of the lid without having to touch the sharp edges.

Although it's not perfect I am still very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a inexpensive electric can opener. Inexpensive, easy to use, opens suitable tins fast Struggles to open imported tin cans with thin rim lips around the top

Handy Gadget – Having gone through a number of manual can openers, I thought I'd try an electric one and chose this Kenwood model. After the can is pierced, the machine starts automatically and the can is held in position while it rotates and the magnet which sits on the lid, holds that while you remove the can once the machine is finished. On the rear of the machine, there's a knife sharpener which I haven't actually used and a bottle opener on the front, again never used. Easy to use
