OK – I loved Kaz's first book Up the Duff as it was so funny I couldn't put it down but found this one not to be so funny or informative. It doesn't cover enough on soilds or how to wean your baby off the breast etc. good reference guide not as funny as Up the Duff nor as informative

OK – I would have found this book more useful prior to having a baby as an intro to parenting. After finding my way with my first child, I didn't feel this book had much to add, and thus did not finish reading it. Her sense of humour is great, but I think 'Up the Duff' is definitely the better of the two books. I like the author- have read her other… Read more

book 'Up the Duff' and she has a funny wacky sense of humour. I like the little cartoons she disperses through the book It is a good intro to parenting, but doesn't have the same medically researched material as some other baby books

Good – I like this book and have used it off and on. Not quite as good as Up The Duff but fun, easy to read and made me laugh a lot!. It reminded me of me in quite a few areas. Information was not too technical and I enjoyed the persoanl comment throughout the book. Some I coud really relate too! I like the down to earth writing style of the author. It… Read more

easy to read and refer to. Lots of topics covered which makes it an easy, quick reference guide. Not quite enough actual information as so many areas are covered.

Good – I really liked having this book; definately what I was needing as a first-time parent with a newborn. I wasn't a huge fan of "Up the duff", when I needed lots of information, but appreciated the more laid back style when I was struggling in the first few weeks. A really good overview book, I regularly refer back to it Easy to read style- … Read more

Encourages mum to be relaxed with baby, rather than rigid, and to look after self

Really enjoyed the quotes of advice/ stories of real parents Could have a little more factual information for a book its size, particually when it comes to development/ milestones

OK – A decent read, but not that informative as if doesn't give enough information on every subject that it attempts to cover. There is still a hint of Kaz's famous humour, but it isn't what I would call a funny book, myself. Kaz is an amazing woman, her writing style is normally hilarious and she does know what she's talking about, this book has… Read more

information on almost every aspect of kids. The fact that it covers everything means it often covers nothing, in that too many titles, not enough info. Not as funny as her other work either, feels more fact based.

Good – As others have said this is a good intro to parenting, probably best suited to reading in the last months of pregnancy as preparation - other more topic specific books can be purchased if they cover material that is relevant to your particular baby. Funny; Non judgemental; Easy to read which is great when you're tired or in survival mode; Good… Read more

font size and layouts; More of a "good enough" parenting style which is much more realistic than perfectionistic ideals Like Up The Duff this isn't a medically oriented book (although it covers some of that stuff); Because its scope is so broad it can't cover absolutely everything and tends not to have a massive amount of how-to help; Heavy!

Good – It's not as fantastic as "Up The Duff" but it's still a really helpful, practical book. I think it's definetly worth the $39.95 RRP. It's Kaz Cooke- she has a fantastic writting style, very down to earth, very practical, very Australian. I love having an Australian based book! It covers quite alot, from birth to about 5 years old. Very handy book… Read more

to have on the bookshelf. It's "different" to "Up The Duff." Not quite as hilarious. Different doesn't mean bad, it's still an excellent book, it's just not as fantasic as Up The Duff though it's written in the same style.

Good – I really liked this book, it gives you a bit of a laugh when you need it, especially in those difficult first few months and was really easy to read. This book covered ALL topics about babies, toddlers and preschoolers. I really liked the sections on development for different ages because it listed lots of things for physical, language and social… Read more

development for age ranges of six or twelve months. Each section has a reference section with books, websites or organisations that have more info. Some sections didn't really have lots of information, though it did tell you where you could find more info.

OK – The book is comprehensive, covering topics for all the questions first time mums would have. I found some topics did not have enough details, so I had to go to other sources like internet or other books in search for more information. The book covers wide range of topics tp help parents care for kids from when they are newborn to 5 years old.… Read more

Having read Kaz's first book "Up the duff", I was expecting this book to be as funny as the first, but I was bitterly dissapointed that it was not.

Some topics had too little information.
