Useless awning – I have had it for a year. Finally decided to use it. The screw nylon threads are useless, wouldn't tighten. I used tape!! The quality is weak, I saw that someone had damage due to wind and wanting to return and you lot denied a return. Wth they are meant for outdoor camping. They are junk and I'll not buy anything from you again.

Excellect for the price, lasted me over 10 years. I was setting up my work van and purchased a 2x3m kings awning somehwere in 2012-13, it has been on my work van until 20 feb 2026. Sometimes it isn't used for a month or 3, sometimes it is setup-packed down daily for a week or more and sometimes it is setup and packed down for an hour. The last 3… Read more ·  2

years I have been working on a farm, and have been using the van as a mobile site/office tool shed and leaving it parked up with the awning setup for somtimes a week or more.

It has shelted my sliding door, portable workbench and me from sun and rain beautifully for many years.

I had it setup for near 6 days whilst i was working on a shelter and bore system in a paddock, over night a horse managed to knock it over and bent 2 poles, with the fabric tearing on the equipment i had sitting underneath it.

After 10-12 years (impressive really); - the bag was showing its age as the zipper (dispite irregular spraying with whatever lub i had on had when it got a tad sticky was starting to jamb up more) - the fabric started streching enough (after 5-6 years mind you) that the velco tension straps were not stopping puddling, so I cut some half circles into a length of 20mm HD conduit so it sat diagonally on the tension/side poles and that solved that. -the awning fabric was starting to get thin, the last year or so, the under side would get damp after rain and you could get a drip or two in heavy rain, but still, tip it at an angle and you wouldnt notice. - the bag fabric had also started thinning the last year or so and i noticed mould was starting to form on the awning when unpacking.

CONs, it can be a tad anoying to setup alone in the wind, like any pole awning, moslty beacause being cheap it is flimsier than others on the market, BUT, with care and a plan, it works fine.

Pros, paid for itself in the week after it saved my drop saw, workbench and the side of my car from the worst of a sudden rainstorm.

Only thing i reget was not getting the 2.5 x 2.5 as the 2x3 did not cover the passenger door as well. so for my next purchase, i am getting a 2.5x.25 now with the extended side, as im hoping the extended side will fold into the bag better than a tarp.

With luck, ill post my next revew in 10ish years :)

Kings Side Awnings - 2×2 – I have been using a kings awning for around 6 years now. Quality has been no problem as I firstly made sure it was installed correctly (so it won't " fall off"), apply basic maintainance to moving parts, keep the cover clean and certainly peg it down to stop it lifting over the car (that will bend and break most any product out there) and Drop a… Read more ·  1

corner in the rain to minimise water pooling. Apply some common sense and these awnings will serve you well. Treat it like a disposable item and you can expect to buy another one which will almost certainly fail if you don't follow basic principles when using this or any other a awning product.

Failed on 1st attempt – This was Christmas present. We didn't even get to use it once, before it failed. We attempted to set this up for the 1st time on the beach. Was a calm day. The pins and bracket are poor quality and difficult to fit together. While setting up, my son was holding 1 leg, there was a gentle gust while trying to pin down the guy ropes. This… Read more

caused the pin to pop out the bracket, tearing it like it is made of butter, and then the whole awning buckled and collapsed, twisting all the poles as if they were made of butter. Customer services snotty reply was the excuse that it shouldn't be used in windy conditions. (even though wasnt enough of a breeze to blow the packaging around, or lift our beach umbrella!) DONT BUY THIS, the quality is appalling and the company unwilling to make good.

Kings Awning Rubbish – The advert for these is false and misleading. I brought this a few years ago after it was suggested that the Big Daddy swag needs to be under a awning. The awning leaks also and ripped off the mounting bracket the first breeze caught it. The awnings are like most other cheap products poor quality. The first time it rained water collected in the… Read more

middle until it was so full it ripped. These are made from low grade aluminum, the poles are not strong and bend, the strongest part it the brackets that mount them to the roof but the bolts supplied dont fit into the bolt groove on the roof rack. It takes 2 people to pack away and is fiddly to get back into the bag. the zip failed making it useless. I contacted 4wdsuper centre and they said its out of warranty (after 1 month) and could not do anything about it. Who ever is writing the auto reply on the bottom of all these reviews needs to deal with the problem better and pull it off the market. DO NOT BUY FALSE MISLEADING ADVERTISING

Tried, tested and passed – Purchased a kings 2x2.5 awning and side wall to hang off a Colorado. Took about a week to arrive which I was happy with. Installation was a piece of cake. Tried at home and all seemed good and solid. Tested on a hunting trip, first night no wind, just a heap of dew underside was damp but no drips and no problems. 2nd night some gusty wind about so… Read more

make sure all pole are tight or they will shorten up and make life a bit noisy with the horizontal bar tapping the end piece. Rained about 4.30am and when it stopped there was a few litres of water on top but she held up. Side wall kept the water off the swags and drying time around 30mins once the sun came out. Overall I am pretty happy I brought it.

An update on the awning. Strengthen the hole in the front channel where the horizontal bar fits into it, had some wind hit it while waiting for the vehicle ferry from Morton Island and that ripped the aluminium at the locating hole in the front channel. After fixing that I'm back to being happy with it.

Some people just live to complain – In hospitality a regularly used truism is that we pass good news to a few but we broadcast bad news widely. My experience with Kings has been both good and bad but I go into any transaction knowing that things can go wrong. I believe that I am realistic when it comes to dealing, not only with Kings, but any company. If you expect perfection, then… Read more

expect to be disappointed. The equipment I have purchased has been as described and fit for purpose. I have looked at various awnings on mates vehicles and in shops and I wouldn't mind betting that they probably all come from the same producer in China or maybe from the factory next door.

I have had my problems with Kings and dealing with them can be tedious, but, it has always been sorted amicably in the end. Their advertising is an insult but the trick is to work out what really is the cheapest price and act. For many items I find that it is the shipping costs that make their products too expensive and given that the only outlet in Adelaide sells at product cost + transport, I either wait for the cheapest price and order from Kings for delivery to my door, or go to eBay and find something that is cheaper plus has free postage.

In the end someone somewhere is obviously doing very well financially out of this, but then so am I by not being limited to only being able to buy from just a couple of other companies.

I only manage to get away about half a dozen times a year so I never truely test the equipment, but it hasn't let me down yet. Maybe, if I was a serious expeditioner I would be having a closer look at what is available, but I am not and I am happy.

Great value and robust just one this needs fixing and they would be perfect – I have had this on my vehicle for 4 years. Honestly I would say the best value piece of camping equipment I have ever purchased. Only point of improvement is the pins on the awing arms need to go to the next hole in the extruded aluminium on the roll out piece. I have a similar awning on my camper that has this and its so much better in the wind due this little feature. Show details ·  1

Flimsy and cheap but works fine if used CORRECTLY – Just a heads up, it is apparent 99% of the people with problems are due to improper use. 1. It MUST be pegged down at all times, it's like a big kite so this should be obvious. 2. Poles need to be shorted and stored or extended and in use, you CANNOT let them just flop around under their own weight. I recently used mine in very high winds and while yes they are built quite flimsy, IF they are used CORRECTLY they should last quite some time. Show reply

New model is much better – Replaced my old 2m x 3m Kings awning with a new one after wind got hold of my old one and it ended up on top of the car...my own fault for not pegging it down. Was pleasantly surprised about the quality of the new one. Has reinforced on the canvas where it needed it and the zip seems better. For the price you can't go wrong. Show details

Very poor quality product – Bought the 2.5 x 2.5m awning in September this year. On second use, gust of wind caused it to fly over the top of our car. The legs were weighed down with sand bags. Bad quality product and customer service – We owned the awning for 1 month and used it a few times and then the basic, plastic mechanism in the pole broke and it would not tighten again. This is cheaply made and doesn't withstand true adventuring. They do not have any integrity and do not accept responsibility for the low quality of the product. We finally got the refund but will not be buying their product again.

Good Products for Show – I purchased the awning with the side wall a few months ago. They aren't to bad. However, they are not built robust. I was in Ceduna when a soft gust of wind bent the side posts. It had the side shelter on as well. Definitely not built for Australian conditions. If you would like something to look good, no worries. I don't think this will stand the test of time. Remember, warranty doesn't cover weather conditions (how convenient??). Show details

disappointed – We have used this about 10 times and were very happy with it and always pegged it out, even with sand pegs but this week the awning flew up in a very slight breeze and ripped the side pole out of it's hole and both the other poles had the tips bent. looks like we won't be able to use it again. I also noticed that the stitching on the black velcro is not in line with the velcro in lots of places therefore not securing the velcro to the canvas. Show details

Please do not be tricked into buying this product – 1st use on set up. Extended awning pole as per insruction. Cheap and Flimsy – Didn’t even last one day. The poles are really flimsy, slight wind and it starts to bend. ours broke after a gust of wind bent the awning pole, broke the extension fastener, and because it all bucked the Velcro straps came loose sending the material flapping in the breeze. We had to jimmy it with some rope to keep it together until we could pack it away. Best to invest in a better quality awning than this one.

OK if you’re on a budget – Cheap as chips, that’s about as good as it gets. As mentioned in previous reviews the poles and other material is really lacking for the environment that it’s going to be in. The actual material gives you shade from the sun but you will still get sunburt even in the shade it provides. Make sure to always tie down the awning as it only takes a… Read more

Great product for the price – Purchased the awning and side wall just before Xmas for holiday shelter on the NSW South Coast. The second day/night the wind really picked up & the side wall needed to be removed for fear that it was going to snap the awning arm. The awning itself surprisingly held up really well even though the wind during the night was really strong. It was definitely a good purchase for the price under $130 delivered for both plus a bonus item.

Im looking forward to trying it out properly when we go on our big road trip next week. I will give a review when I return.
