Klipsch RW-10D

Expensive High End Product - Misleading Warranty – In 2007 I bought several sets of high end Klipsch reference speakers including a RW10d subwoofer for my home theatre system believing that they were quality speakers and the fact they came with a 5 year warranty. The other speakers I have no problem with but the RW10d which was $1200.00 at the time of purchase has been the bain of my life. When first purchased the subwoofer the LCD display was faulty (half of the display was on full all the time) so I had it replaced as DOA. The replacement had the same problem, but I decided to put up with this as the sound was still working as it should, my folly. The unit was then in storage for 12 months as we have moved, so the unit only had a working life of 2 years. On resetting up the unit after the 12 months sleep the unit went BANG! I had a 5 year warranty so I took it to an authorised repairer and was shocked to find that it was going to cost me $475.00 to get it repaired. Apparently the 5 year warranty I thought I had, only covered non electrical parts (a wood box and glue) the electronic parts were only covered for 12 months. So I paid to get the unit repaired including the faulty display unit that was faulty from day one and it has been working well. The unit went back into storage for about 12 months as we moved again with work. I have since updated my theatre system to flagship ONKYO NR5008 receiver and then set up again, the subwoofer worked fine until it went bang again. It is 10 years old of which 2 years it was not used. It died within the first 3 years (only 2 years of use). For a high end expensive product I would have expected it to last more than 8 years. My gripe is that on contacting International Dynamics Australasia Pty Ltd and Klipsch originally (after the first repair) I was totally dismissed and the warranty certificate was totally misleading. I would think twice before you buy Klipsch.
