Kmart Anko Large Plastic Shoe Storage Box

Anko large shoe storage box is so good it is addictive! Beware! – We have a specific space for shoe rack and have been looking for ages, not finding one that we are totally happy with, until we discovered this product recently when we saw some celebrity music band's shoe wall, made up of these boxes. They look amazing and amazingly practical. There is just something magical about symmetry, consistency and even patterns making this seemingly cheap product amazing and practical.
External dimensions are 18cm (H excl studs) x 27cm (W) x 36.7cm (L). Internal dimensions are 17.5cm (H) x 26cm (W) x 35.5 cm (L). Given it just has a flap for door, despite its very simple construction and design, it is incredibly space efficient, especially compared with much more expensive products that has a drawer design. You won't find many shoe boxes with greater usable space!
With the self assembly design, each box comes in a flat pack, very easy to take home. Don't be fooled by the $7.50 price per box. You really want to build at least a stack or couple of stacks with them, if not a wall. Price adds up obviously as a result. With the notches on the base, they do stack really well, very evenly. And the more you put together, the sturdier they become, not that it doesn't hold its shape on its own. You can build a tower, a wall cabinet, a wall, a triangle until stairs. Let your imagination run wild and make good use of your space.
It does have proper "hinges" on the flap, not the old lunch box, bending plastic until it breaks, kind of design. In fact, the notches for the hinge double up for clicking on the front and the back panels and you can reconfigure the door so it flips up, rather than down. That's how we have them configured, so we don't have to think about the off chance of forgetting to close the flap properly and it opens up by itself. Yes, this means we need to hold the door while removing and placing shoes, but I love not needing to think about closing doors properly. Imagine a wall of shoe boxes and a fraction of the doors are open sticking out while others are not, especially given door doesn't open completely but about 135 deg. Perhaps I am much more OCD than the average consumer.
Base and the back panel have holes for ventilation. Awesome! They are very easy to clean with a dam cloth or vacuum. With the door flap opening upwards, they don't collect any dirt.
As per dimensions provided above, and its name saids, it has a large capacity! You are going to be able to use most of that space unlike drawers. This is a super important to us. We don't want a shoe rack that only takes a very limited portion of our shoes. Of course knee high boots won't fit but they do accomodate most other shoes. Shoes are easy to see with the clear door and walls.
While buying online is easy, there is shipping cost. Recommend going into a physical store, have a chat with the assistants and buy there, have a good look, compare and help the mums and dads working there keep their jobs, please.
Is there anything I don't like about this product. Make sure it is assembled properly. If the front and back panels are not securely installed, this may affect the integrity of the box and the stack. Add a little tape on the inside of the front / back panel if required. Also, make sure you hear a click sound (x8) attaching the bottom panel. You don't want the base to fall out or warp because it is not properly attached.
