Kobo Forma

Rubbish Sprinkled With Sugar is Still Rubbish! – I outlayed the extra money for the Kobo Forma over a Kindle for the library features. I also wanted something waterproof and sunlight readable to read on the boat. I immediately fell in love with it and bought another one for my partner. That was 18 months ago and the love affair has turned into a bitter hate-filled divorce! Within 6 months I was having problems with the Kobo running flat overnight then eventually refusing to charge at all. I tried following all their advice - resetting, updating, reverting to old firmware. Kobo sent me a refurbished one under warranty - despite my argument that they should be replacing it with a new one. Six months later, my partner's Forma started going flat overnight even when it was turned off! Of course, this was just a couple of months after warranty expired! Another few months down the track and now my refurbished Forma won't charge. Again, resetting to factory settings, updating to latest firmware, trying multiple different USB cables and power outlets has not helped. I LOVE this device when it works - it's especially good for my old eyes - but the degree of frustration it's causing is an absolute killer.
Kobo??? NoNo!!!
4 1/2 Star upgrade – This is my latest upgrade in my ereader. There are many positive features here to elaborate on. - size of screen (Is wider than the H2O allowing for horizontal reading) - page turning buttons (next/previous, quite accessible) - ergonomic design or ease of holding, light variation-soft to bright white, also night mood - extremely light in weight - usual fonts, dictionary etc. New, is the landscape reading ability and able to rotate whist reading, similar to iPad/tablet . Looks great and worth the money spent. Personally, I recommend buying the cover too. It only does it protect the reader but cover can be manipulated to standing positions for free hand reading on table etc. and yes, it’s waterproof, certain depth and time. I have found the Forma is smoother and faster in loading pages, there are a lot of positives. Unfortunate negatives, non expandable memory as prior readers and adding books to your reader. If not direct from site it is a longer process. Would I recommend this reader, yes. Have been using fir over a week now and am happy.
