Kogan Atlas Mini PC

Kogan Atlas Mini PC E300 S – I got the PC back repaired. Now I could access my files, because the mouse and keyboard are working. Kogan advertises this mini PC that it Support Decoder format: HEVC (H.265 @ 4Kx2K), H.264 @5.1, SVC, VP8 1080p, VP8 4K,VP8 stereo, MPEG4 ASP/SP, AVS, BD2.4, H.263 I was trying to play a HEVC, H265, 4K, 2160p file but the video is jerky, frames are missing, the picture freezes, breaks up. It is a false advertising, because the PC is not capable to do what they are saying about it.
You get what you pay for – Good points: styling, quiet, reasonable interface connectivity, flexible storage options, good video playback Bad points: Lan interface frequently disappears. Issue is likely Microsoft updates, requiring WiFi access to recover. Very annoying. Limited 4GB memory.
Purchased in at Dick Smith for $299.
Didn't make it past 12 mths – It died within 8 months, contacted Kogan. What a drama! emails back and forth and they have approved return of the laptop for a replacement. I have to pay for the return postage and handling. I can't access my personal data and also they want me to provide passwords. Not happy at all

Fantastic little Mini PC. Very fast and quiet – The Kogan Atlas E300 mini PC is great. It has two usb 3 ports and two usb 2 ports, HDMI and VGA ports. Mini usb port and Mini sd card slot. The unit comes with an inbuilt 32gb emmc storage, This will fill quickly so I advise buyers to install a hard drive in the available port or for even better speed install an M.2 storage card in the other available port. Ive done this. I had to download windows 10 to a flash drive and install from there. To get into bios simple hit the escape key when the Kogan logo is showing before the spinning circle. As per usual if your going to install onto another drive back up drivers of old system first. Installation took around 12 minutes with the M.2 card compared to twenty minutes with a sata drive. The mini computer plays 4k very well. Its quite responsive for a small PC but will do all every day tasks with ease and play some Windows Store games. Just be reminded it only has four GB ram. All in all, not a bad little PC. Update, 2nd July 2019. Still going strong. Still fast and doesnt get too hot. Well worth the money for a budget PC. Near 2 years still going strong

Good Average Computer but requires additional upgrades – This review contains some technical information. You must be connected to the internet already. This mini pc provides a TV Box solution to the Big Flat Screen or as a way to declutter the desktop or study. However, you have to do a few things to get this computer working smoothly. The first step is to upgrade Windows 10. Allow a day to update. Mine failed to update. I had to download the Windows 10 independently via another computer and install this on a USB Stick. Then I had to do an emergency step in Windows going into Bios (Firmware) of mini pc to make the mini pc boot from the inserted USB stick. It worked and within minutes I was installing a completely new Windows 10 OS. (You will need a keyboard and mouse plugged in one of the many USB ports). I did a custom install wiping the entire 29 GB of storage to a new partition. Within 15 minutes I was looking a pristine version of Windows 10 on the mini pc. Follow all the prompts. Now Windows 10 will boot up and allow it to do many updates for another 1/2 hour. It will find and configure this device to very fine specific features that it has. There was only one device that showed up mysterious - it will not affect in any way the running of the mini pc. I highly recommend you upgrade. An sd micro card (64GB) or have an external hard drive connected to the USB ports or placed in the hard cradle. I did not receive one. If you do these steps you will have a mini PC that is excellent You could have no cables for everything except the Power if you have cast ability to your mobile phone, flat screen TV and purchase a wireless keyboard and mouse. Bluetooth is built in already along with lastest WiFi (WLAN). It also has an RJ45 Network socket. HDMI you have two.
