Bega Almond Spread (formerly Kraft)

This product was in the almond butter area. It was cheaper, and a brand that I trust. I bought it, put it into my healthy oat bar recipe, I scooped it out tasted it and thought what is in this? It tastes sweet and salty. It contains 23% almonds, I was expecting close to 100%. It is rubbish and is made in Belgium. I'm not buying again and I'll be reading all Bega product information from now on. Disappointed. Show details
Made in Belgium – Far too sweet and made in Belgium of all places. I bought Bega because I thought it was Aussie. Very disappointed that you're not supporting Aussie growers.
Awful – Such a shock to taste sweet sugar instead of almond! 19gms of sugar! You have to read the fine print. A PLASTIC JAR. And it's made in Belgium not Australia! Show details

Best Ever – Bega Almond spread has a lovely creamy taste. I have tried other more expensive ones that have ended up in the bin. I particularly love the crunchy one. Bega Almond spread is my firm favourite. 5 Stars !!!
Nicest spread I have ever had – I love almond butter and no this is not it BUT I love it!!! I picked up a jar on special and so glad, I out it in yogurt and it is so good on strawberries too. Show details
Best spread ever!!!! – I cant have peanut butter but Almond butter is delicious. This one in particular has a unique smoothness to it. It isn’t too bland or sticky like the others. If i could pick one food only to eat this would be it. My fave fave fave fave! 100 stars!
Negative reviews
PEANUTS, not almonds! – I’m allergic only to peanuts, and this “almond” spread made me very sick. Seems to be mostly peanut butter. They ought to say so, or else they could be responsible for deaths. Show details
Terrible processed product – I picked this up at the supermarket beside my usual almond spread from Macro - I wished I read the ingredients on the label as most of it is made from vegetable oil, milk solids, sugar and salt....along with a few almonds. Horrible sugary taste and consistency with a bad after taste. They should put this in the dessert aisle - it is not very healthy Show details
Garbage – Sickly sugar-salt taste. Should be relabeled "contains wheat, barley, rye, peanuts, other tree nuts and soy. May contain almonds". Remove "Bega" from the label. Call it Fake instead. Show details

Disgraceful – Such false marketing - is 23% almonds an almond spread? Should have checked label but bought on trust Persevered for 3 sugary bites then binned it. Health food shop for me.
Inedible – This is no almond spread. Tasted like a weird sweetened smooth peanut butter with a few almonds thrown in for crunch. Tastes nothing like any of the almond spreads I’ve had before. Inedible Show details
Nut Paste by Kraft better label to reflect less expectation of quality & taste – Quickly discovered inedible, not even second bite! Reminder to read label, would never feed these ingredients to others, presumed Bega quality, item easily impacts very poorly whole Bega brand. Mislabelled. Show details

One star too many – Taste is weird- nothing like a nut based spread. Almonds may be inside but no noticeable taste. Uneatable. Had one knifeful on toast and threw the lot out. Get rid of it Bega. Show details
Loooovvvvve it!! – I love this spread! all other almond butters are way too bland for my liking, it is great in smoothies. I wish everyone else who has reviewed this and said they threw it in the bin would give me theirs! I would buy in bulk if I could! Show details
Too sweet – Bega almond spread was to sweet it was like eating confectionery I had to throw it in the bin. Will not be purchasing again. Will look for another almond spread brand to buy. And it’s made in Belgium not Bega.
Too sweet – Wow, I drink almond milk and almond products to help regulate my sugar levels. The sweetness is almost painful, my pancreas said no! Almond products are not only for those that need an alternative to peanuts, they also have very important health benefits for me post breast cancer. There is nothing in this product my body wants, the texture is good but inedable. The sugar is aggressive. Show details
love the taste and sweetness! – Not the healthiest and these pretentious people reviewing the product are probably just some health conscious hippie vegans who are used to eating cardboard. Contrary to what they're saying, it actually tastes sweet and is the exact taste I have been looking for! A lot of the spreads we have here are bland and suck! This one is what I have been looking for! Show details
Not even 1 star – Very disappointing. I threw my toast out, along with the jar. I love nut spreads, especially almond, but this is not nutty - it’s oil and sugar with a very strange taste. Even more disappointing is the fact I thought I was supporting an Australian-made product, given Bega is Australian, to find out it’s made in Belgium. Crazy when there is a… Read more
large almond production here. Not sustainable at all. I usually read labels but just assumed it would be good like the Bega cheese I love.
Don’t bother – Did not enjoy this product at all. Wasn’t at all what I expected to buy. Full of sugar, oil and milk solids. I was surprised by the taste and was shocked to see that it only contains 23% almonds versus most peanut butters containing upwards of 95% nuts. I wish I had read a review before purchasing. I should’ve read the label before purchasing this product as it was a waste of money. Won’t be giving this a second glance.
This product is ultra sweet, oily and inedible- – If you love almond butter - don't purchase this product. It has no similarity to any other "real" almond butter/spread what so ever. It's ultra sweet, the texture's strange, greasy and only worthy of binning. It would even ruin any nut based sauce.
Love it – Absolutely LOVE IT Not the most healthy spread There are other almond spread alternatives But tastewise, id go for this Tastes delicious over hot toast Always come back for it everytime Show details

My fav spread ever – I know it's not healthy at all but damn I love it ! (I mean nutella aint healthy either yet people love it right). It doesnt taste like regular almond spread, it's more like spanish almond turrón (for those who know) in a jar ♡ I am devastated to not be able to order it now that I am back in France, can't find it ANYWHERE, not even in Belgium… Read more
where it is made apparently. If anyone knows how to buy it from Europe, please tell me, I miss it so much !
Very disappointing – How you can take something that’s meant to be healthy and turn it completely unhealthy is beyond incredible. The first ingredient is Oil, and I think almonds come in as the third ingredient. It’s so high in sugar that it takes like oily sugar with a bit of crunch. I wasn’t wearing my glasses when I bought this and so I just assumed I’m getting a… Read more
healthy enough product. After all how wrong can you go with an almond spread?? Very wrong obviously. Will never purchase this product again.
My go to nut spread – I love the taste of this. Other reviews mostly aren't happy with the ingredients. That's not my concern. I love dipping slices of granny smith apple in this that's slightly warmed and runny. Yum!
Read the ingredients before buying – How on earth Kraft (or Bega or whatever they're calling themselves these days) can market this as 'almond' spread is beyond me. I'm someone who's health conscious however not obsessive about my diet - I'll happily eat their peanut butter because it's 85% peanuts but this spread is only 23% almonds, which makes you wonder what the role of the rest of the ingredients is (apart from saving money on almonds).
Misrepresentation-Should have read the Label not the name! – I bought this spread as a healthier alternative to peanut butter. However after tasting some, it was not as expected. It is sweet, very sweet as it contains 19% sugars. For someone who expected a nutty almond taste and tries to avoid added sugar, it was disgusting. Upon reading the label further it only contains 23% almonds and yet it's called… Read more
Almond Spread??? It also contains other unhealthy ingredients like vegetable oil, emulsifier 322 (from soy) and salt. Don't buy this concoction if you value your health and your families health. I wish I could give a Zero rating.
Sugar and Oil Spread – How can you call this stuff Almond Spread when oil and maltodextrin are in higher quantities and one serving has 5% of your daily sugar requirement, therefore 2 pieces of toast and a cup of tea/coffee and you've already blown 15% of the daily requirement of sugar. There are plenty of 100% Almond Spreads available that cost only a little bit more.
What is this crap – Why would kraft create one thing and pretend it’s another? I use Almond spread as a healthy yummy alternative to peanut butter, but that is not what this is! Real almond spread should be made from 100% almonds and nothing else - this stuff barely has almonds in it at all and is full of added bad oils and sugar. The only reason you would eat this… Read more
stuff is to slowly kill your self. Well done kraft you have wasted your efforts. if anyone is looking for an almond spread to buy try the macro almond spread in Woolworths... It’s incredible!
Love! – So I've never actually tried an almond spread/butter before this one, so it could taste completely different to normal almond spreads but I have a massive sweet tooth and I love this spread! It is very sweet though and has an oily peanut butter/ nutella type of texture. But I eat this straight from the jar. If you're after a more natural almond… Read more
spread then this is probably not what you're after. I would still love to try a more natural almond spread but for now this is my fave.
Great peanutbutter alternative – idk what those other reviews are talking about, it tastes great and since im allergic to peanuts i cant have peanut butter, which is an ESSENTIAL item in amateur lifting, love this stuff!!!!
Absolute rubbish. Make yourself sick – This was absolutely disgusting! Like putting salted honey in your mouth with the texture of olive oil. Why are milk solids in an almond spread? Yes Kraft are a cheap alternative, but why do they insist on killing people with their additives. Avoid
Super sale leads to super disappointment – I found this product in a supermarket in Nauru. It was sitting there next to other spreads, including macadamia, cashew, and the ubiquitous "peanut butter". Except this was a third of the price of the next cheapest spread. A bargain in an otherwise expensive store. I checked the use by date. All good there. Inspected the label and lid for any… Read more
flags that it may be a bootlegged product. Everything seemed in order.
It wasn't until I dipped the knife in and felt no more resistance than if I had plunged the utensil into a cup of water that I started to doubt the integrity of the product. Removing the blade revealed an oily, insipid concoction of baby-gastric-coloured goop, complete with slightly darker flecks. This mess didn't fall from the knife in clumps, nor did it drip; it veritably poured from the blade with less consistency than warm honey.
Slightly perturbed, but not deterred, I proceeded to spread this on a slice of bread and took a tentative bite. My immediate impression was that I had inadvertently applied plain liquid glucose to the bread, such was the indifference offered by my taste buds. A quick double-take confirmed that it was indeed Kraft Almond Spread, so I took a much larger bite in the vain hope that I may encounter something more than oil and sugar. Alas, it was to no avail. The offending slice of bread was thrown to the dog, but even he took one sniff, looked at me as though I had attempted to feed him his first born, and scampered to the safety of the gutter when he could consume the faecal passing of his sister in peace. A much better offer, apparently.
Suffice to say I felt compelled to hurl the remaining product into the furnace, as simply throwing it in the bin seemed too moderate a fate for such an offensive offering. I considered it an offering to the gods of good taste, on the off chance they would take pity on the world and smite its creator. I live in hope...
