Cartridges too expensive – Print Cartridges are hugely expensive. It will only print and scan via the internet. I don't know why but I was told that this is the way it is. So if the internet is down, it won't scan or print to my PC. Only 18 months old and it got zapped in a recent thunderstorm. The communication card ifailed. It was no value to trade in or not viable to fix.
The new Kyocera MFP wont take my Toner Cartridges. I am stuck with about $1,000 worth of spare cartridges.
So bought a new MFP of another brand.
Apart from all of the above, it did work very well.
Kyocera Krap – Kyocera Ecosys M6530cdn Buy price $975 on 22/7/2015 Warranty two years. This printer gets medium use of approximately 1000 pages per month in a home office. 19/07/2018 transfer belt and drum were replaced. Costs $ 539.00 Yesterday 31/10/2018 the main board failed. Quoted repair cost is $692.10 I have contacted Kyocera and they are not even interested in discussing the issue. A $1000 machine should last longer than three years. Don't touch their products with a ten foot pole.
Scanning problems – I spent $1,000 on this multi-function unit. The printing works well, is quick and good quality. Incredibly though, despite being linked with a USB cord, it is not possible to scan to my PC so I need to scan to a memory stick and then move the memory stick to my computer. This unit would only suit a large company with a dedicated IT person who can configure the networks; then it is possible to scan from/to your computer. Do not buy this machine if you are a small business and want to easily scan to your computer. Products like Samsung provide software so that you can organise the scanning from your computer, this one doesn't.
