Any where other than China? I have done two rooms and still have 2 to go.... new I should have brought it all at once. Or is there something with same colour? I got the Blackbut
Sandra I have the same issue only need one box. Got told not to use another brand as they won't fit together. So still looking have a place in WA that have some but not my color. This is who I've contacted. admin@expressbuy.com.au
Do you acclimatise flooring face up or down
I actually didn't pay attention to that, so I did it both ways. I assumed that acclimatizing it had the purpose of making all the planks the same temperature. So I spread them out to encourage that. My reasoning was that they expanded or contracted according to their temperature, and that the small tolerances for clipping them together depended on their expansion being all the same, and so they all needed to be the same temperature.
We have recently bought 8mm Laminae to do some areas of our house but haven’t got very far with it because the planks are not completely flat. When they are joined at one end the other pops out. We’re on the point of returning the unopened packs to Bunnings and looking at something else. My only thought is that the planks may not be thick enough. We have a concrete floor but that isn’t the problem as you can see the planks are not flat when placed on another surface. Thoughts, anyone?
This is a guess, but I'd say the packs you bought were faulty - maybe they were not stored flat at Bunnings (or did you lean them against something after you bought them, instead of keeping them flat?). You should take the bent packs back and get replacement ones. I doubt if this brand is the problem, I'd say they were stored incorrectly at some point - clearly curved floorboards are not 'fit for purpose' and any brand that has been allowed to warp would need to be replaced. From what my research found out, the thickness is not the main issue. I came to the conclusion that 8mm seemed to be the 'sweet spot' for floating floors floorboards. They are laid on spongy underlay, so having some 'give' is expected. I'd just say that your packs of floorboards were faulty, so take them back and get replacements. Maybe go to a different Bunnings store? (in case the staff at the first store did not care for their stock properly?)
Thanks for your response. We stored the flooring flat and they were flat in the display but who knows how they were stored otherwise before going into the store. They are being taken back this afternoon.
Hi Everyone,
I need to replace a small area of laminae floor boards, I haven't been able to match the color with any stock at the 4 Bunnings stores that I have visited so far.
Does anyone have any idea of another store that sells this brand ? Bunnings head office were unable to give me a contact number for the company itself or the representative. Thank you !
Hey Rasa, just saw your question, so this is probably not helpful to you since you asked it 11 months ago. The Laminae brand is a Bunnings brand - the Australian trade marks register shows they own the trade mark. So either they manufacture it (or have it manufactured for them), or they're the licensee for the brand in Australia. But the lack of online presence for the brand anywhere else leads me to believe they're the manufacturer.
Hi, I'm also looking for this product to extend it into another room. Any luck on finding it?
After visiting about 5 different Bunnings stores in the end, I was advised that the colours vary from year to year, hence why they are date stamped on the underside. In the end, I took a few sample pieces into Bunnings and I purchased a packet of that was somewhat similar, it was defiantly not the correct colour - But, I was able to use a few of the darker colour boards near the older boards and then work my way outwards into a lighter colour. You couldn't really notice the difference in the end, only if you were analysing it. Its like a huge jigsaw puzzle, lay them out first and take a few samples into Bunnings (and open the packets to check them)
Best to go into a larger Bunnings store with more stock and selection
Thanks a lot for the reply, Rasa. Can you tell me which type and colour that was similar that you bought to mix and match in? We might need to do the same.
"Walnut" was the closest colour to the samples that I took into the store. None of the colours looked close at all, or like a match. It was more a case of elimination and then picking the closest colour to the samples (even though it was not that similar) - rasa@live.com.au is my email, you can email me and ill send pictures of the floor if that helps
Can I clean the boards with a steam mop
Hi Debbie, It cant be left with lots of water residue because it will bubble easily. I believe laminae now have a "waterproof"version of their floorings. I would suggest this ! I wring the mop out very well, till its almost dry and then mop the floors
Have laid Laminae flooring recently throughout house and it is making cracking, popping noises when walked upon, especially first thing in morning.
