Inside is rusty – I love the look of this kettle and it was my Christmas present last year. Within a few months it started getting spots inside despite my emptying it and drying it. I feel I've been ripped off. I have just ordered a Judge stainless steel kettle for less than half the price. Noone wants to drink coffee with bits of enamel in the cup. Very disappointed. Show details

Very Disappointed – Went into Le Cruset Canberra Centre store with my kettle, Was a Mothers Day gift last year (15 months ago). Enamel eroding around the edge of the lid and the black coating inside rusting and flaking. It was used on a wood oven with tank water. The staff member was quite abrupt and had the attitude i was taking up her time and was very rude. She… Read more

eventually filled out the paperwork to send off for warranty. Le Creuset have declined the warranty due to misuse, apparently kettles are supposed to be emptied and dried when not in use?? . .. And was over heated... thought this was a quality product from a quality brand, cannot recommend this brand, or this store, very disappointed.

Such a bad quality – I bought our first kettle but it was leaking so the company changed it. 6 months after using the second one, I have noticed a mark on it and when I looked inside I realized that the whole layer broke. So I wrote to the company and they told me that I over heated it. No, I was using it in a normal was, such a poor customer service . Very disappointed !!!!! Never again ! Show details

Looks nice but poor quality – On our second kettle as the first started to lose its enamel and was starting to fall apart. The inside of the second one is now also showing black deposits inside wondering if this is rust. Show details

Extremely disappointed with LeCreuset – My kettle is 4 years old and the base has rusted through the enamel on the inside and is discoloring the water. Because the enamel has also chipped on the outside LeCreuset have void the warranty. Show details

Just dont buy one – Have had this kettle for 3 years. The inside stated corroding and lifting I believed the 5 year warantee should cover as has been used as directed , however, the company representative had a long listing of defaults. What kind of water (from a well in Hiroshima) what temperature did you boil the water ( ummmm the usual temperature of boiled… Read more

water) did it suffer mechanical trauma (well I couldnt find my hammer that time). When the 3 photos were considered insufficient to rule out thermal shock, yes, you read correctly thermal shock for a kettle, I was asked to bring the kettle to her and make a 150km round trip for a kettle. Seriously!

Not worth the $$$ – I love my kettle but unfortunately the enamel chips within a short period after purchase and the manufacture does not live up to its warranty. Wish I had read the reviews before investing my money into this purchase Show details

Spits and splashes hot water everywhere – Unless you switch it off and wait 20 plus seconds the water hits the metal spout and spits out past your cup and hits Hands,Bench tops & anything else within about 150mm. Awful operationally but very attractive piece of decor. Misses the mark . Show details

Attractive Garbage – Yeah they look smart and everyone likes them but they rust and turn to rubbish in under a year. Only worth the money if you never use it and just show it to your friends to impress them. Show details

Worst kettle we've ever owned! – We saw this kettle online and thought it suited our Queenslander perfectly. The first one we bought rusted out which was disappointing. We thought maybe we weren't looking after it properly. So we bought another one and it ended up doing the same thing. For such an expensive kettle they are particularly poor quality.

So dissappointed! – Purchased our traditional kettle about 4 years ago. Used on gas stove top for it's entire life. Inside has rusted out and is now unusable. So dissappointed considering price point.

Rusting and chipping after 9 months – After 9 months, my kettle is rusted and chipped around the lid. I have attempted to contact the company with absolutely no response. Definitely not worth the money, as the cheaper brands last longer Show details

Another rusty Le Creuset Kettle – Wish I had read your reviews before we invested in a Le Creuset stove top kettle. After only 7 months use the enamel is rusting on the inside base. Big list of dos and donts -dont fill it with cold water if its just come off the stove, dry it between uses, avoid leaving it sitting with water in it.The company we bought it from were very helpful … Read more

and have offered to replace it but either way its very poor value for money, a real nuisance and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone who wants a stress free kettle. Le Creuset is not the brand it used to be.

2nd le creuset kettle now rusty - update below...5 stars for customer service! – We bought our first one many years ago. It probably lasted about 5 years before rusting. I was thrilled when le creuset happily replaced it about 3 years ago, only saying to keep it dry in between uses....how stupid is that? A kettle is intended to be a water utensil and is used by many people in the household. No way of monitoring this.… Read more

Anyway...the replacement kettle has started to rust. We only ever use filtered water, and I also do try to empty it every time, but inevitably it's going to have wet patches.

I love its look, and it is perfect for our induction stove. Which brings me to another point, it's never been on a gas stove, so it can't have worn out from the gas flame. I guess I will try to get another replacement, preferably though a refund so we can get something else.

Le Creuset Australia have been fantastic! I phoned after writing this review and immediately Chloé put the wheels were motion to get my warranty replacement. I am now a very happy owner of the 1.6 litre stainless steel version. It looks beautiful and its induction compatibility is brilliant, amazingly fast, way faster than the enamel kettle. Thank you Le Creuset !!

Love our stainless steel version – After reading all the reviews I still choose to purchase this kettle due to my love of its appearance (almost all other types are super modern). It looks amazing sitting on the stove (where it lives), we just love it. However we purchased the stainless steel version, to hopefully avoid the issue of chipped enamel and rusting issues these kettles… Read more

seem prone to. We've had it for a few months now and try to never leave it with standing water inside. Fingers crossed it stands the test of time.

enamel chipped, inside rusted – Within a year of buying this kettle, a decent size piece of enamel chipped off the lid. The insides have been slowly losing their coating and it's begun to rust inside. I've owned it for about 5 years. I thought Le Creuset products were high quality. Not sure I would trust them anymore. Not at the price they charge anyhow.  Show details

Sadly another fail! – Love the design and usability however our second kettle has developed internal rusting on the bottom. Le Creuset replaced the first kettle so good on them due to rust on the internals of the kettle. The first lasted over three years and the later less than 18 months. Not recommended as it is too expensive to replace every 1-2 years. Another example of great design and exceptionally poor manufacturing processes.  Show details

Absolute Rubbish – Bought Le Creuset Kettle in Marseille Blue for $185. It came with a lifetime warranty.....not worth the paper it was written on. After 9 months of use the enamel started to crumble off part of the outside bottom edge and inside was rusty in that area. I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they phoned Le Creuset anticipating that it would… Read more

be replaced. The shop assistant was told by Le Creuset that the kettle must have been thrown at something to cause such damage and therefore would not be replaced. What an insult! Some of my favourite cook pots in my kitchen are Le Crueset. They have successfully 100% managed to get rid of one of their long time supporting customers. I used to rave about how good the product was but never again!

Poor quality – Purchased an enameled (Dune colour) in 2015 ($109) , its not even two years old and has rust coming through the inner lining . Besides the cheap material they have used ( Made in Thailand ) its a very nice kettle , cool handle and heats well - pity about the quality control - does France have this problem ? On checking reviews in UK I found this… Read more

fault has been ongoing since 2011 , doesnt say a lot about there customer satisfaction response.

Because we like the kettle ( even with the finish problems) , gone ahead and purchased a stainless steel ($187) one the same ( hopefully 18/10 stainless steel wont rust ! )

If your contemplating buying one of these in the enamel coloured finish I suggest you read the reviews available on line and request a 5yr warranty in hard copy( seems there 5year warranty is not written in any enforceable way but they have honoured it on some purchases)

Very Disappointing – The style of this kettle is very attractive but has lasted barely 34 months. Rust developed very quickly around the lid rim and spout and soon after rust developed inside the kettle in the base...this leaches into the water being boiled. Unfortunately the shop where I bought the product has since changed hands & so no one wants to take… Read more

responsibility for the product. It is definitely NOT worth the 'higher end' price tag that is attached to it & it seems, in my experience, that the '5 year guarantee' on these products might as well be written on toilet paper!

Now made in China & the quality reflects this. Broken – I purchased this product and when I opened the box it already had some of the ceramic glazing cracing off near the handle. I could have taken it back had it not been for the incident where I knocked it on the bench and a large part of the ceramic glazing came off the base and internally making it unusable. Don't buy this product. It just will not… Read more

last long. I'm no longer going to be purchasing Le Creuset products - they've sold out. Made in China is not Made in France.

Disappointment!! – I bought this on 20/11/2013 after being disappointment with Essteele Stainless Steel Kettle which rusted around the lid after using for a few months.I got my money refunded and I went about looking for a quality kettle and was persuaded by a staff in a shop that Le Creuset Traditional Kettle is very good and she has only 1 red color kettle left. bought it and after a couple of use with only filtered water, I noticed black particles in my water. I continue to use it and it was obvious that rust was in my water now. I use a torch to shine inside the kettle and saw some rust forming around the bottom hole of the outlet.I brought it back to the shop last Wednesday and she contacted the representative for Le Creuset Kettle. Today is Sat 25/01/14 and still no word from them. It's stable and look solid. There are many small holes for the water outlet. The very bottom hole started to rust within a short time.

have you found a reliable stove top kettle now? I am looking and other than spending $300 on a AGA kettle, I can't seem to find anything at all.
