Leupold VX-II 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope

Forget Leupold those days have long gone! – I have a few Leupold Scopes from days gone by but in the last few years the quality has dropped off. No longer are they made in the U.S. to the standard they once were you are now buying a China Scope without the reduction in price, when I point this out to my friends you can tell they are still in love with the brand but when you look closely you can just see it. The 3 - 9 x 40 was a dead loss more suited to an Air Rifle (short Range) I also recently tried a pair of their binoculars, they were also cheaply made the rubber was sticky out of the box.... needless to say I sent them back for a refund and bought a pair of Atlas for $100 cheaper but 10 times better.
Many Many people say to me their Leupold is great but compared to what! my $500 Burris is much better than my $1500 Leupold VX-3 but people only see what they want to see.
It's a shame.
1/4 of a Century young ... and still a goodie! – I bought one of these new roughly 28 years ago, and it's spent its entire life sitting atop a .303 running near maximum loads. Crystal clear ... and barely adjusted in that timeframe. Despite belting it round a paddock and on the back of a bike many many times over the years, you could nearly package it back up and sell it as "near new". It's aged that well.
No complaints whatsoever to speak of ... and all their stuff is covered by their life time warranty ... no questions asked.
Now that's 5 star material!!
A phenomenal scope – The Leupold VX-2 is characterised by its crystal clear optics and amazing build quality. It is a sturdy unit that is weather proof and shock proof. It zooms from 3x to 9x with an overall 3:1 zoom ratio. The duplex reticle works very well. There are no apparent optical distortions, aberrations, reflections or refractions that I can see. Windage and elevation dials are 1/4 MOA, although these are accessed under screw off dust covers (take care to always replace them). It ships with a silicone like lens cover that stretches from objective to eyepiece lens. Although not the prettiest lens cover it fullfils its function of protecting the lens very well. This is all backed by Leupold's lifetime guarantee (which transfers to any subsequent owners). It works excellently on rimfires. Excellent quality optics and build.

I dropped my rifle and the Leupold scope was damaged. I sent it back to the USA and they actually replaced it for me at minimal cost. That speaks a lot these days when all our products are chinese rubbish and you cannot get any reliability from them.
Leupold are great!
