I have a LG 26LG30D and suddenly on some channels I get no picture but a "HD service" message. Is there a way to fix this? What does it mean?

I suspect the HD function is not operating on your TV model. The way to get around this is to get a set top box.

I have the same issue, red light flashes continually and will not turn on. Is this a known fault? Thanks, Rajan

With my 7 year old 42LG30D-AA I just had the same problem with the red light flashing and not turning on after increasingly seeming not to respond to the remote signal. A quick search of the net showed it's a common problem with all TVs with the aluminium electrolytic capacitors dying in the PSU (power supply unit) board. They are rated for 2000-4000 hours at 105 degrees C and although the ones on my PSU board had not obviously swollen or burst like some and looked OK I took a chance and ordered a full Panasonic set (all 18 of them for around $50 a set deld from a US supplier) and soldered them on and all fixed. Presumably TV techs would just replace the whole PSU board ($168 online I note plus their labour charge) and that would fix what has been an excellent TV. It would seem the weak link in any TV are these capacitors and clearly their inevitable failure will depend on how many hours you use your TV and the initial capacitor brand quality.
