Terrible – LG need to do the right thing and replace these TV's for customer satisfaction. TV cost me $3500 and 4 globes later (within 3 years)it's now sh_t itself again. I think I need to paste all these forum discussions to LG so they know what it is really like. Maybe we need to stand infront of stores every week and tell consumers our stories and not to by LG.... Good Picture Quality It's a Lemon

Terrible – What a load of junk. Cost over $5,500 in 2003. Will now assign it to the local tip and purchase a plasma model from a reputable manufacturer. Does anybody have a contact number to complain to LG? Will never purchase anything made by LG in the future and have already started advising family and friends. problems does the same. Great picture quality when TV working. Also PIP. Many times repeated fact in these reviews that the TV will not switch on. Indicator light flashes orange and then goes to red. Seems worse when the ambient temperature is high. Has been to repairer under extended warranty four times (difficult as nearest repairer is 600km away.) Warranty has now expired and problem has recurred.

Terrible – A useless television that just keeps costing you money. Why spend $4k on a tv then $500 or thereabouts everytime it needs repairing, and with mine it looks like $500 each year. For the first 2 years it was great, best television and the biggest we had ever had. The lamp went 2 years later, then guess what this morning it has gone again, less than a year after I spent $500 on having it repaired.

Good – I can't really complain about it. Touch wood it has served me well with NO bulb replacement in the 5 years i've had it -mind u i bet ya as soon as i finish writing this, it'll blow... :P Asthetics. Looks nice and a good TV for it's time (think it's about 5 yrs old now) Once in a blue moon it might not turn on straight away. I just turn it off and turn it back on again.

Excellent – A good TV for its time.It has been reliable and not cost a cent other than the purchase price. If I could change anything it would to put an antiglare filter on the screen. My set 5 years old today with original lamp that has done 8876 hours and never been touched. Still has a great bright picture.

OK – Can anyone tell me the reason the picture is so dark. Has something blown or what? I have left it running quite a while to see if it needed to warm up but it does not do anything. By closing up the curtains it makes it a tiny bit better to watch but i don't want to have to do that! Was given to us from a friend. The screen is way too dark.

Life's Good! - not for me with this TV – After reading some of the reviews, I don't even want to start with the issues I've had with the LG service team - nothing against the people, it's the ethics of the company which are terrible. I'm lost for words to find so many people afftected by this TV. I thought I had a lemon - looks like I'm not the only one. Reading all the reviews on the… Read more

site (productreview.com.au) LG should follow a simple policy to customer service, the customer is always right! After a recent recall on the LG HD tuner TV's (great media coverage), I believe most of you would agree, there's a simple remedy for this problem without LG tarnishing there reputation further. Replace all the DLP RT-44SZ21RB with an equal size TV (which works) as previously quoted. I gurantee every Australian who owns one of these, who have there's replaced, would end up buying more from LG in the future (perfect world scenario).

I understand runnning a company is about bottom line profit, with a tarnished reputation. Where's the bottom line figure going to be in the future? If my TV was replaced by LG with an equal size TV, I'm confident I'll be encouraging everyone I know to buy LG in the future (right now that's far from the case) - besides I feel as though I've had the wool pulled over my eyes in regards to the TV life span (8000hrs - ha ha! someone must be laughing at LG, I'm not!), if I did this to someone in my industry I would never ever see an ounce of business again in the future. People are jailed for this type of conduct, I believe the word is con man! false advertising, misleading information or receiving funds via deception.

This is appaling from a company who prides on Life being Good! - obviously my life has been worse owning this TV maybe they should change the logo to LW (Life's Worse with an LW!) To the person who suggested I turn my TV of with a remote control, thanks for the feedback, most males live off the remote control! - how stupid do you think we are? - you obviously work for LG with comments like that. PROS: Great image quality (when it works) Exactly that, LG are CONS - 8000hr lamp life! try 3 lamps in 3 years with less than 5000hrs of TV use. Life's Good for who?

Terrible – This has been the worst $4000 I have ever spent on the most unreliable TV I have ever seen. I would never buy another LG. Terrible – PROS: Good picture when working. Cons: As per other reviewers, doesn't always turn on. Red light flashes and then turns off. I did find that upon re-installing the lamp… Read more

cage, the TV turned on correctly. For the last 12 months, when the TV returns to the 'flashing red light' only mode, I turn the TV off, remove the lamp cage, turn the TV on then off again and re-insert the lamp cage. The TV works for approximately 2 - 3 months without problems. I find this a bit frustrating but I'm saving a call to a service technician. To enter the service mode, on this TV, it is done by pressing the menu button on the remote and the menu button on the TV at the same time. You can select the lamp manufacturer, view and change the lamp operating hours, etc. Be careful not to adjust some other settings if you do not know what you are doing.

Overall: Will not purchase another LG product.

Terrible – For a $5300 Television, this is a poor quality product and is poorly supported by LG. was replaced. At 24 months (12 months out of warranty), the set failed and the lamp was replaced again along with the ballast and IC Sanken - total cost a shade over $1000. Twelve months later, the light tunnel failed - another $460 fix, and now the Light Wheel has failed - but you cant just buy the light wheel - you have to buy a new Optical Engine - parts cost $1125 plus labour for a total of around $1500. Needless to say its not worth it and I will buy a new set - NOT an LG. When I first raised the issue of product reliabiity with them (after the second failure), a representative (a lady - I recall her name was Pamela) did say that they had had some systemic problems with this set and would have it invetsigated, but subsequently came back and said they could do nothing because the set was out of warranty. This set is clearly a lemon and I am surprised that LG do not do the right corporate thing and provide some customer satisfaction.

Terrible – Terrible. As others mentioned - I've had this set for just under 4 yrs and have had it repaired twice & it has problems for a third time. Bought new for $4k and I had spent a further $1500 in 2 yrs - and looks like I need to spend another $1K AGAIN! I will NEVER buy a LG product again! This set is clearly faulty. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT LG??? Only when it works Expensive repairs within short space of time.

Good – I have this model tv... and around the one year mark the turn had occasional problems turning on .. and then at the 14 month mark, wouldnt turn on at all. stated the exact amount of hours were sent to LG then they could have a look into it to see if they could help out.

It showed 3103hours. And lucky enough for me, they paid for the repairs.

Now the call out and assessment fee cost $140 which in all honesty wasnt the cheapest but was happy to get it done.

I can not see how people omplain about LG saying that an assessment would cost $385, NOW unless u live about an hour away from their asc, I think u got ripped off NOT BY LG... BUT BY THAT ASC, TAKE IT UP WITH THEM....

And as for people stating that LG dont cover for 2000lamp hours... UR WRONG, they did it for me, and have been the ONLY COMPANY other then SONy who have helped outside of warranty,,, so im all for LG and will keep buying them.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad – Cannot see how a company like LG can keep a problem like this isolated from public notice for so long. Terrible – Try this first.. Pull out 10 x $100 notes from your pocket and set it alight. If you don't like that feeling then don't buy this set Great picture when working. $4500. 1st globe from manufacturer lasted ~3.5yrs. Got used alot. After globe replacement, the wonderful dark line from top left descended across the TV. Line went across 1/4 of the set before decreasing back to ~70-80mm. The lastest issue is a whirring noise from within. Worked after a couple of attempts but now won't come on at all. Spoke to a TV repair person and they have stated that their experience with them "it is a failure in the optical engine". cost to repair $1000-$1500. Not worth repairing. Brand New if they still sell them ~$2500. Set is just over 5yrs old. Value!! Just under $1000 / year. Set life 5yrs max. Have resorted back to my 15yr old Phillips CRT. Cost $1700 new. $120/year.

Bad – we inheritted the TV with our home, so in that sense it hasn't really cost us much, but we are reluctant to repair it a second time as we don't know how long it will be until we have to put our hands in our pocket again... the size is great - has cost us $250 just to replace a lamp and now, 6 months later, the picture has gone, it turns itself off and sound comes and goes.

I can't beleive this company has been allowed to get away with this!

Good – From what I have read I may have been one of the lucky ones. I generally had no problems with the TV until a couple of months ago. Have had the TV 3 years. replacement costs most of the time were upward of $700.

Whoever has had a lamp problem, do not fear. If you can get your hands on a lamp from a supplier it is extremely easy to replace. It took me no more than 15 minutes to access and replace the bulb.

I was also lucky enough to purchase the bulb/lamp for $250 from an Ebay supplier (joma756). He was very easy to deal with and I received the item very promptly.

$250 for bulb/lamp replacement is definitely much better than $700+ and the crap service from LG. Please email me if you need any information.

Good – Hi all, Have had the lg for about 4 years now and have had the bulb changed twice now. Also had the shadow start from the left edge of the screen gradually getting bigger until about 100cm wide, but the strangest thing has now happened....it started shrinking again and has now dissapeared! Have been told by family member who has same set… Read more

that LG here in Australia have now said that the operating temp of the bulb is too high and are now changing the ballasets in the sets and installing a lower temp bulb....which is also supposed t help bulb life.

The shadow is something around edge of bulb compartment that starts to melt and leans down into the bulbs light path and cast the shadow. I can only assume mine has fallen down far enough to " get out of the way".

I am having problems with my colour balance....does anyone know where I can find the setting for the system menu, as I have definatley mucked my ones up!!!!!

When this tv is running fine is still one of the best I have seen.

Good – I have written a previous negative review on this product, but now would like to compliment LG on the excellent service they offered me after this issue. Well done LG. I am back in your customer base. Great picture, stylish and a small footprint for a projection TV and at time of purchase, a great price. Further to this, LG service has proved second to none! The lamp......the bloody lamp. Died after about 2000 hours (approx 18 months) after getting slowly dimmer (it was rated at 8000 hours). Many people have had similar problems with an average life of around that figure.
