Is anything being done about the problem of the LED fading? The pen still works but it's a bit unnerving not knowing if it's on or not in a meeting if you can't see the display. Is there anything I can do to preserve the life of the LED? It's not the first pen I've had where the LED has faded away.

Hi Ian, If you're experiencing an LED brightness issue with your Echo smartpen please email me at support@livescribe.com and we'll see what we can do to get this sorted. In relation to your question re preserving the life of the screen I recommend the following: (a) ensure the pen firmware is up to date - this will ensure the pen goes into dimmed, and sleep mode after periods of inactivity, and (b) don't overcharge the pen - 2-3 hrs on charge is sufficient. Unfortunately a lot of users connect the pen and leave it to charge overnight, much like they would their smartphone.

Finally, the Echo models that are now in the market (as best I know) have an upgraded LED screen.

Please let me know if I can help you further.

cheers Mark
