Electric Fire Lighter - don't wast your time with flammable fire starters – Well, I must say that the Looftlighter is almost perfect. My second purchase of a Looftlighter in over four years. Considering I use this at least once a week and nearly 5 -10 times a week during Summer, it indeed takes a hammering. I've been using this to light charcoal within my Big Green Egg (BGE), Open Spit, and Hibachi Grill and to… Read more

accelerate red gum lighting for my pizza oven. It had not faltered for over four years of use until it died last week. So off to BBQ's Galore to replace it with a new one with no hesitations. This new one fires up at 1800W with a weather-sealed temporary push switch and has the charcoal well-lit in under a minute. I can bring my BGE up to around 180C within ~20-30mins which is almost the perfect time needed to prep the food. All I can say is be careful with Mallee-root and Binchotan charcoal as they want to crackle and pop with this firestarter once they get going. There are many lighters on the market, and I researched Amazon to check if there are better products. Still, sometimes you stick with what you know and not to mention, this comes in at a better price than some others. I'd recommend this product. PROs: - Solid well built construction - Built-in stand to keep the firelight off a surface after lighting - Built-in bottle opener. (Swedish think of everything) - Decent 3-meter length cord - Sealed push-button switch - Warranty 3 years Cons: - You cannot keep this turned on without holding the button pressed, but I'm gathering this is more of a safety feature. - Should I get more than four years of use? (~ $30 per year for my last one)
