Proud to serve Lurpak butter – This is not a scientific review just along the lines of 'I know what I like', it is spreadable straight from fridge. I am proud to serve it because I believe it is 'best' in its class.

It's OK – I would not normally buy imported product, in this case from Denmark, when a suitable local alternative is easily available. A discounted price at Aldi tempted me, making it almost the same price as my regular Devondale preference. If I was not aware of any other butter based spreads, Lurpak would have been OK. However, in comparison to the Devondale highest butter content blend that I have happily been using for years, the Lurpak product is not, IMO, as good. It tastes closer to being like margarine. That to me is quite off putting, especially on bread with no other topping/filling. If disguised with jam on toast or other fillings, it is OK. It spreads well, but it is not close enough to the taste of butter for me to switch permanently. I was very pleased to open my new packet of Devondale this morning, with the "proper" butter taste. The experiment was worthwhile, but I will stick with the Australian made Devondale in future.....and save money.

Purchased in at ALDI for $5.99.
