Chux Magic Eraser Hard Surface Cleaner Questions & Answers
Can this product remove hair dye from wooden surfaces?
It probably could, but bear in mind the magic eraser is fairly abrasive even though it doesn't look or feel like it. I'd probably try baking soda & dishwashing liquid to get it off & if that didn't work I'd try a trick I found out about with getting rid of coffee stains on wood. You get a white cloth & iron it on the affected areas until you achieve the desired results. Last resort would be nail polish remover or eucalyptus oil.
Can it be used on lino floors that has a huge pink stain on it? I think it came from a pet food mat the my cats food was and it got wet and dye leached on to the floor,
Will this product remove smears left on brown floor tiles by our tiler after using grout colorant?
It depends if the tiles are porous or not. If its sitting on the surface it may be removed but anything thats a dye will be problematic. Definitely worth a try though.
My little son drew his Picasso sketch's allover the lounge room wall, the area is about 0.6 m/sq., with a fine point, black 'Permanent Marker' pen. Will the 'Chux Big Job Magic Eraser' take these marks off and if it does, will it leave a noticeable mark where it was used, Any answers will be greatley appreciated. Thank you.
I would use rubbing alcohol to remove marker stains from your wall before I tried the magic eraser.
I would try the magic eraser on a small area, I haven’t used it on permanent marker before. It also tends to work best on surfaces that are not matte.
Ok I will try all your suggestions, thank you so much as the wall is a mess and we live in a new apartment.
Can it be used on glass shower screens?
Yes, I've used on clear glass shower and it is magic indeed - no need to scrub very hard, no smell . My shower never looked better !
Can you use on Stainless Steel cooktops?
Yes, you can. The sponge is soft and non abrasive, with two different surfaces to it.
Cannot find it in my local Woolworths Bunnings or Coles. Where can i buy one?
I have seen them on Reduced Items trollies going for half price. The Erasers work well for a short while, but are not long lasting, as I have now discovered. They literally just fall apart in pieces, which is not very good. (I should amend my initial comment.)
Eventually found one, but will bear in mind what you say Marian
They are available at Bib-W and you can also buy them online from Big-W. They are selling for $5.95 for the 'Chux Big Job Magic Eraser 2 Pack'. Hope this helps
What is the secret? It gets printer ink off hands!
its a extremely fine sandpaper
It is made from Melamine Foam
Will this clean scratches of aluminium?
Yes it will but you will have to buff the surface up with something like Chrome Magic or similar
Hello, I have a new cream leather couch with a nasty little blue biro mark on the arm.
Will the chux magic eraser remove that mark without causing damage to the leather?
Thank you, Jenny
It depends on the leather. I would buy it (only costs a dollar or so), and try it somewhere inconspicuous.
Hi Jenny, did you end up trying it and how did you go? I have the same problem.
If the magic eraser does not work, try hairspray in a inconspicuos spot.
Hairspray seemed to strip the surface a tiny bit so glad I tried it very carefully. It faded the biro but not enough and took color from the leather. I actually got excellent results from a natural product from Bunnings hardware called De-Solv- it. Citrus oil base. The magic erasor hadnt worked either, and I was despairing until I found the citrus remover and removed the biro without any damage.Try in a hidden place first. Good luck.
Jenny
How about using Magic eraser on metal cookware with burnt-on grease?
sorry, I don't know, I have never tried
Not sure I can't remember whether I havebought this product or not / I did find that the 3m scourer to be superior cleaner to anything else which was even better than using steel wool
