I use my Manfrotto Befree Compact Tripod MKBFRA4-BH every opportunity and I love the experience every time – I bought the tripod to help me take good quality photographs on my Digital SLR Camera. I have not regretted buying the tripod because it serves its purpose well. I cannot imagine taking pictures without a tripod.

When stability and portability matter for the perfect shot – Manfrotto Befree Ball-Head Tripod This is my first foray into the expensive tripod range and I could not be happier! A solid and sure footed tripod. I’ve owned cheap tripods in the past and nothing compares to this. Why did I not do this earlier? The unit packs down to around 40cm and you fold the leg s back up on itself (that takes a little getting used to - but not a problem). The legs are made in 4 stages so a desirable height can be achieved up to a max of about 140cm. Legs angle can be adjusted to x2 angles to make the tripod more squat.

The ball head and locking plate are secure and the additional lock is a nice touch so you can’t jettison your camera as it is a 2 step process to remove the camera from the tripod head.

One thing that did take me by surprise was undoing the locking screw for the ball head - my camera lurched forward and I thought for sure it was a goner - but no, it just tipped forward. I’ll make that mistake just once.

The ball head and riser column can be inverted to hang the camera under the tripod. A feature I never thought of but I’m positive I’ll make use of that.

All up a great tripod that comes with a carry bag and an allen key so you can nip up the adjustment cams when they start to lose a bit of tension and slip. Finally you can ditch the carry bag on site as one of the legs has a rubber grip that feels nice in the hand when carrying.

This is not the lightest tripod about weighing in at 1.4kg but it is solid. Register online your purchase with Manfrotto and they will extend the warranty to 10years! Ow that’s a company that believes in their products.
