In Qld the smoke alarms are useless, at the first sign of humidity they all go off and usually in the middle of the night. The company gave told me to clean them and have tried to be helpful. Got the electrician back and he wasn't surprised, he's had to replace almost all that he's installed!

We had 4 wireless and one hardwired Matelec alarms installed in our old farmhouse just over 3 years ago. Professionally done by an electrician. They go off all the time, for no apparent reason. They ended up getting taken down because the people couldn't stand it, and now we will have to install other ones.

MATelec - works smoke alarms on the market – I am an electrical contractor and have had nothing but issues with MATelec smoke alarms (hardwired and wireless). time we went through the exercise of trying to get some replaced under warranty - I would say that goes to show how much they cost them to produce - TERRIBLE PRODUCT, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I would give no stars if I could.

Not fit for purpose – Alarms going off for no reason, paid a thousand dollars and now have to replace.

No service at all from Matlec – Moved into a home 2 years ago and had Matelec smoke alarm FSA 20000 installed by a licenced electrician. Started having trouble with them 6 months ago with them going off for no reason. Changed all batteries over made no difference. Removed batteries and reset all the alarms as per their online advice found on the web. fixed for just over 3 months… Read more

and did the same thing again, going off for no reason. No storms or adverse weather about to cause a spike in power. Reset yet again this time it wouldn't fix the problem. swapped the main body of the alarms around to different fixed plates and worked as they should. Each time these alarms fault I have contacted Matelec by email explaining the problem and at no time have they ever got back to me. The alarms have now again gone off and I am having an electrician remove them. As Matelec have not had the decency to get back to me in relation to this problem and have no option but to NOT RECOMMEND their product to any prospective smoke alarm purchased. Simply because of the poor service. BUYER BEWARE.
