Maton 325 Series

Great Work Horse – I purchased my Maton EM325C in 1991. It's a bit knocked about now but still sounds great. In the 90s I did a lot of busking, plus performing many wedding, restaurant, and wine bar gigs. Now days I just play at home to maintain my sanity here in Melbourne's COVID-19 Stage 4 lockdown.
Good for the money – I find the pickup to be a waste of money. But that's what I think of any straight Piezo. I advise getting it without the pickup and go for one of the top few brands of Condenser/Piezo. If you want a great recording guitar you don't want this. With a twin pickup system it would be a good workhorse for live work. I couldn't find a great recording… Read more
guitar for less than $4000. I ended up with a PW(handmade in Tasmania) for recording. I'll never be sorry I bought the Maton E325c(except for the E part of that model number). It's a guitar you can take outdoors, to parties, and use live for rocky dreadnought numbers. I use the PW for the outstanding tones that some songs must have. And I never take it to parties or out of the case when it's outdoors. The Maton is comfortable and light. I'd also advise comparing it to some of it's competition before buying one. Others sounded better but weren't as comfortable and light. For me the Maton struck the right balance. If recording is important you can get a better recording guitar for the money. Cheap, Robust, Stays in tune, Sounds OK. Not as good as my PW.(for double the price)
Excellent value for money and outrageously good quality guitar – This is a gem of a guitar for the money that you spent. I went out one fine day with lots of other peoples money (cr card) in my wallet to shop for a great acoustic guitar. I have had my share of cheapies which sound good, but playability is bad, and vice versa. I have been playing professionally for over 4 years now and have a good ear. Played… Read more · 1
all available Martins and Taylors and Cole Clarkes and Larrivee's. Dont get me wrong, all those are wonderful guitars, and I had my eyes set on a Taylor 316ce, but never ever considered Matons. Played a friend's Cole Clark Fat lady 1 and it was good too. But this 325c is just wonderful to play with, and man that AP5 pickup is mesmerizing. The total sound spectrum is very 'whole' and balanced with the perfect balance of jangle and low end. It is just a delightful guitar to play. Congrats Australia on building a truly great guitar for under $2000 which gives the $3000+ guitars a proper run for everything. Workmanship is discrete and world class, no un shaven edges, badly dressed frets, action was very high out of factory, get it properly setup and it is a pure treat. Put Elixir nanoweb 12s on em, and it just jangles. Thanks Maton. Just adding, the Hard case is very plush and posh too! Quality of the build at the price bracket it is. Sound
Fantastic Sound – Amazing sound. The salesman told me the Maton 325 Series was the "choice of professionals" and "the ultimate live guitar" and now I do not doubt him. A rich, and full sound (easily adjustable to individual settings) perfectly suited to what i wanted. This guitar definitley will withstand me and my friends live playing and will last for years to come. Rich and full sound Show reply
