This abysmal software recommended I change my default search engine to something it called "Bing" – You would rather have two hundred infections from hourly browsing of NSFW websites than have McAfee on your computer as the sum total of popup/spam/distraction notifications will be lower - guaranteed. This product (see screenshots) relentlessly badgers you with nag popups; with absolutely no way to turn them off. Use if you LOVE marketing popups on your personal computer! Show details

McAfee Livesafe or Total Protection installs problematic Webadvisor bloatware – McAfee document that the Antivirus and Webadvisor install together but are separate program in the Windows 10 add remove programs. The idea is if you uninstall the Antivirus, then Webadvisor remains to provide ongoing free protection. If you consider how Webadvisor works, its designed to remind you to buy products and subscriptions. If you… Read more

uninstall it separately and leave McAfee Antivirus running, the antivirus program will reinstall it. This was by design however user complaints has now listed as a known issue that seems to take forever (by design ?) to fix: https://www.mcafee.com/support/?articleId=TS103425&page=shell&shell=article-view WebAdvisor is automatically reinstalled after being uninstalled Document ID: 000002218

Recently the Webadvisor was broken by a recent update and sends a nag screen that won’t go away. It sits on top of all other windows. Their own technicians said to uninstall webadvisor however uninstalling it is a known issue. Discussing this with McAfee gets you nothing.

As another problem, many important components of the software are disabled if you don't turn on auto renew for the subscription. This risks being charge large costs for a subscription that is usually on sale or otherwise worthless due to functional problems like Webadvisor errors.

In Summary, McAfee Livesafe Antivirus and McAfee Total Protection that are related are unusable because webadvisor can't be uninstalled

Unreliable? – Two months after downloading McAfee, this supposed protection would not open and a message box stating it wasnt functioning? No guarantee it seems when using internet that it is working and providing safe and secure access , no icon or . The VPN button needs to be manually turned on prior to it operating and program opened. Although having a… Read more

prior download on file , when uninstalling and reinstalling, automatically started another download using more data, when trying to reinstall and would not reinstall unless connected to internet. Stalled at 55%.

Kept sending pop ups for extension products at an additional cost when having paid more than sufficient for this product??? Also putting up the dark web graph re information low rating when some one off purchase password years ago is no longer in use. No identifying of websites as to whether dangerous or not via colour coding.

Not user friendly. Where is the overview by consumer bodies regarding fair trading as most seem to require auto renew which cannot be turned off and monies debited without notification as to cost?

Rubbish – This Anti Virus is complete Rubbish. If you have money to waste "BUY IT" Other wise stay clear of it. You purchase Multi Devices installation and when you go to install on second or third device. It asks for "MORE MONEY" What ever you do it asks for "MORE MONEY" I was having problems and contacted Tech Support who told me to uninstall program and… Read more

reinstall. This spelt the end of my contract with McAfee unless I "PAID MORE MONEY" You do not get just ONE Activation Code but several, so that if you go to reinstall the software, the computer does NOT recognize the code. and so you cannot reinstall. Windows Anti Virus that is FREE with Windows is much better than McAfee. Same with McAfee PC Optimiser you pay for TEN devices but will only work on ONE unless you pay "MORE MONEY". If you request a Refund they play silly stalling games with you and will not give the refund.

Completely worthless, even as a free app – Would give zero stars if I could. Accidentally installed something that was a massive adware/PUP invasion with over 200 different programs included - McAfee didn't block the install of even a single one. This was on my free trial. Decided to cancel before it was even finished. NEVER use this.

McAfee blocking access to Google Drive unresolved after 8 months – Despite multiple posts to their community pages about McAfee blocking access to Google Drive, and a response from a McAfee agent 8 months ago, this problem is not resolved. There is also no update.

I would choose something else – Started using McAfee Live Safe after it was included with a free subscription with a Computer I purchased. They later included a VPN with it so decided to stick with it as it was more economical $ wise. Anyways things started going down hill. The VPN turns on and off and its difficult to observe its status. There are better VPNs where you can… Read more

see/choose where you are connected. As for the Anti Virus my computer started slowing down and nearly ground to a halt. Nothing detected. Ended up getting the system cleaned by other means. The password protection app I also had problems with - wouldn't suddenly not connect. Too many other ad ons offered by McAfee which again never run smoothly.

Absolute waste of time and money – Used it on my laptop. Doesn't find tracking/spyware or any programs that slow processes down. Has found zero to date. Free AVG cleans more and is free-but most importantly it works. McAfee is a total waste of money. Email them with no response whatsoever. Absolute garbage.
