Unsubscribe means unsubscibe – Unfortunately they don't seem to understand what unsubscribe means. I used to use this service but it was too inconvenient but have started receiving emails again. Hopefully it stops soon. I see they have convoluted their service by using a ridiculous credit system rather than 1 unit = 1 meal.

WARNING - Do not buy – Total rip off - the meals they have available are absolute rubbish, from cheap restaurants where the quality of food is atrocious. They have zero customer service, don’t respond to Enquiries and they charge $100 automatically to your card each month. If you don’t spend the “credits” you lose the $100 as it can’t be carried over to the next month. This is a total scam. Do not use!!!

The business is a fraud, they got my money, but I got nothing! – They make it hard to cancel your account from the mobile app? They do not allow to cancel the account from the app, why do they ask for you confirmation? They resumed my account (I could not hold it longer time) without my permission, and got 200 dollars from my account, but I could not consume it, as I am working from home currently. They are cheaters, it is a fraud. They know they have better options, but they just want your money.

Changed the model to subscription, then you can't unsubscribe – Started using Mealpal when it was "pay-per-use". Was good at the beginning. Then they changed to a subscription model, didn't have a chance to opt-out. But I was still using so kind of okay with it. In March last year, they paused the subscription because of the covid. They reactivated it. Regardless of you using it or not, they charged me 5… Read more

times 99.

Really hard to unsubscribe. (2021 and there is no option to unsubscribe on their website...).

I've sent a mail today to unsubscribe and will dispute any future transaction. I will go to ACCC if required.

Dodgy Shady App – Tried meal pal for the first time and immediately got victimized. Its definitely my bad that I didn't read all these reviews before trying. Ordered a salad and went to the shop to pick it up. Guess what, that store hasnt been operating for more than 2-3 months. But still the app deducted the points for a meal which I never tasted. No option to… Read more

cancel your membership. i can see why. they want to loot as much money as possible. They are not in for long. Finally had to cancel my credit card to stop these dodgy ppl from deducting money from my card.

So disappointed – This is not the first time I’ve had bad experience with ordering food with Mealpal. Yesterday when I went to “Parisi” to get my food, I’ve been told by the concierge that this place has been shut down for ages. So I had to order another meal from limited options yesterday. Even though Mealpal credits were deducted for two meals. Last time… Read more

when I order food from another place called “sushi show” I have been told that they are still dealing with Meal pal and haven’t set up yet. So I was waiting there for more than an hour for the staff to call the manager to confirm and to make the food.

I have only been using meal pal for less than a month. I can tell that your idea is good, but our customers’ experience is really bad.

Stole money from my account! – Mealpal have started taking 4.99 from my account each month as a 'membership fee' without ever notifing me or asking for my permission. The only reason I noticed was when I saw unrecognised transactions on my credit card bill and thought my mealpal account had been hacked. I appreciate times are difficult at the moment, but this kind of shady business practice is tantamount to fraud!

Excellent weekday lunch option – Fantastic corporate lunch service at excellent prices. Saves me heaps on my weekly lunch and there is always a great deal of variety and options to try on my area. Also very flexible

Dodgy business, extremely hard to cancel the monthly plan! – I had used its service for a month. Most of the time I had reduced size meals. Price for a MealPal meal was not that much lower than the list price. The only option to cancel the service is to send them email. But they only replied once asking the reason why I wanted to cancel. After that, no reply!!! Now the only way to stop they from charging my credit card is to cancel my credit card!

Poor business tactics & Shameless people – I had use their service for around 3 months & was not using quite often. Mealpal states that you can rollover credit, but in order to use any credit you need to keep on rechanging, this is something they won't tell you upfront. I enquired about cancellation process after my last recharge & I had 30 plus credits available (99 credits after… Read more

rechange), so just enquiring about cancellation, they have forcefully cancelled my account & refunded only last recharge, due to which i have lost 30 plus credit. It just shows the level of customer service & shameful business tactics they operate with. Absolute waste of time and money. PS MP: robbing 20-30 bucks from customer won't make you rich, but reveal your face.

Difficult to use the app and limited lunch options – After updating the app, it has become extremely difficult to navigate around the app, I can't even see how much money I have left on my MealPal. Food options are very limited so I merely even use it. There's no place I could on the app to stop them from charging my credit card to add more credits to the app which I did not want to. Fortunately for… Read more

me, I just lost my credit card so got a new one, and they could not charge me further from the old credit card.

Foul snakes of ill repute – I knew they were somewhat suspicious when they immediately took a large 'autofill' without asking when I first subscribed. I could switch that off (but only after the first large deposit was taken). Today I get an email, providing zero days notice that my plan 'doesnt exist' as of today(!). Instead of dollars, hey, let's implement a convoluted… Read more

new 'credit system' to ensure the real cost of a given meal is too complicated to understand.

Ok, I think to myself, I'll cancel online. Ha ha, they've thought of that. No button for cancelling in 'account' or anywhere else, you have to email them. Ok, I'll remove my credit card details, I think. Mwaaahaahaaa, they say, let's ensure the interface only allows a new card to be added, with no remove button! Genius. So you have to email them to cancel.

My three colleagues are around me are cancelling as we speak due to the same email, and each of them have asked in turn to the room 'how the hell do I cancel? Whaaaat, I have to email them?'. Yep. Customer hostile in the worst way. Avoid.

UNABLE TO UNSUBSCRIBE – All it took was one click for them to charge me $69 and there's no option to unsubscribe online or via phone. VERY difficult and frustrating to deal with. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Steer away – Avoid like the plague. The continual changes to credits, subscriptions etc. is just a means of increasing the per meal cost by adding more ambiguity. The base price is $100 for 65 credits where meals vary from 4-10 credits. The issue is 4-5 credits have almost NO options - like 1 to 2. You don't get realistic options until 6-7 credits which then… Read more

turns out to be 10 meals @ 6 credits (60 credits, 5 left) or 9 @ meals @ 7 (63 credits, 2 left). Don't count the remainders as there's no small top ups. So 10 meals @ 6 credits = $10 each or 9 meals @ 7 credits is $11.1 each. MORE EXPENSIVE than direct and you lose flexibility of buying when you want.

Turn to worst – Mealpal has changed the subscription model and now it cost more with limited choices of meal (one per restaurant). I have unsubscribed since then as it doesn't provide any good value, other apps offers similar setup and offers variety of meal you can choose from. On the top of this mealpal also charge customer a membership fee which is a bad idea

Scam, fraudulent, misleading – Scam, fraudulent, misleading Users beware. This company charges subscription excessively.... their marketing said "12 meals for less than $5 a meal".... but in actual fact they uses "MEAL CREDITS" for each meal. So your meal end up costing about $16 a meal when in actual fact the meal only cost less than $10 from the actual store. Also, their… Read more

subscription scheme kept changing so much that it confuses you... and that's where they get you. They charge you excessively for terminating fee when you want to quit your subscription when you found out that this company is a scam. Happened to me and my colleagues in Sydney. BEWARE!

This is the worst change made to subscription model – Hi, I have been using mealpal for over a year now and initially was happy to pay a certain amount for fixed number of lunches. But now, they have changed the subscription model and not even informed me before deducting 100 AUD from my account. Now, in their portal , there is no way to change subsciption/ cancel or ask for a refund. It will just… Read more

keep deducting 100 AUD from my account every month, even though I have requested for an immediate cancellation and refund.

This is the worst service ever.

They charged my credit card even though I didn't use their service! – I downloaded the Mealpal app just ONCE to check it out, and didn't order any food. Because I was unhappy with it, I deleted the app. But surprise surprise! One month later I was slapped with a monthly membership! There's even no option to unsubscrite within the app or the website. This is a total RIP-OFF! I'd advise people to be really careful when using Mealpal in Australia.
