Methven Krome 120mm 3 Function Handset
Verified1 review
Decent quality multi-function shower head but expensive – Bought this to replace an old shower head handset where the rubber jet nozzles/nipples have deriorated. There are 3 functions on this handset: standard, mixed, massage. The standard mode uses 72 nozzles on the outside to give a decent pressure shower spray. When compared with shower heads with fewer nozzles, the jet pressure on this shower head… Read more
will definitely feel weaker and less "punchy". The massage mode uses the centre 14 nozzles/jets for strong concentrated washing/massage. The mixed mode uses all nozzles, so you get a mix of both, but the pressure will be less on both fronts.
I personally put it on standard mode. The build quality is good. The simple chrome design is minimalist and the circular head contrasts well with the rectangular handle. I can't the see seam/joinnery on the handset and the warranty is lifetime on this so hopefully it won't split like a couple of my previous handsets (from well known brands).
The function switch is clicky and surefooted.
The diameter of the head is a big 120 mm, however as the shower head face is flat, and isn't convex, the spray area does not enlarge very much the further away it is. It would be nice if the designer put a convex curve into the head face so a proper cone of spray is formed instead of a slightly enlarging cylinder of spray. Maybe put an adjustable slider to adjust the cone spray area LOL.
Methven states on the product box that the coverage is wide. I personally don't feel that the spray cone is very wide, due to the flat head face above.
To feel the satisfying rain drop splatter effect from this shower, I would recommend positioning the shower maybe 50cm or higher above your head. Otherwise you would just feel just the smooth jets of water falling.
This shower head is rated at 9L/min so requires mains/utility level water pressure to work well.
Even if the warranty is lifetime, I imagine after a while the nozzles will be attacked by the hard/heavily chemicalised tap water and will deteriorate just like the others - and that will be just wear and tear...
