Michelin Tyres Australia
Verified3 reviews
Our vehicles and many friends run Michelin over the last few years every time we require a set of tyres and in one instance we only required one tyre to replace a near new tyre damaged by our roads, each time we have been advised that it is a three to four month wait for tyres who can wait this long. Due to the delays a lot of us have now switched to other brands. So a little bit of cost cutting equals lots of lost sales most will not return to Michelin I feel for the people trying to sell Michelin Tyres as they are the ones who lose the sale and the hardest thing to do it’s to win back a customer who you lost. Please note this was before the current issue in the Middle East
Just wanted to make folks aware of an issue regarding poor quality control on Michelin Latitude Sport 3 tyres coming out of Hungary and being sold here in Australia On the 25 June 2025 I replaced my front tyres (235/55R19 101Y) at Tyre Power Claremont I stuck with the N0 spec (N0 spec is a tyre specifically built to Porsche's requirements) even though Audi and general spec "identical" tyre were cheaper by $100 each, as Porsche insisted for factory warranty purposes - clearly they wanted their $100 cut. But hey, I figured N0 spec would get me a top shelf quality tyre. Wrong.
Well I was 50% correct. One tyre balanced up well - minimal weights. Just like the front and back Michelin sets previously purchased over the years for the Macan and 997.2
On the other front side - well I couldn't believe my eyes. 80+gms!! Only saw something like this after a mate fitted some cheap Chinese tyres to his SUV. Michelin surely has better quality than this. Can't be the tyre - must be the fitting I thought.
So I arranged to go back yesterday to the tyre shop ( Tyre Power Claremont were great - no fuss in checking) as I was sure the fitter had screwed up - I knew the rim was good (old set of tyres were also Michelin Lat sp3) and minimal weights were used 4 years ago - and no vibration ever
The fitter repositioned the tyre on rim and managed to get a few gms off but that was it (see attached photo showing one good and one bad tyre). The "bad" looked like a divers weight belt!
The fitter indicated it was within (just) "Dynamic road force" acceptable levels
I'm glad Michelin manufacture tyres fall "just" within acceptable levels. Not just outside
Sent an email to Michelin Australia about 2 weeks ago and they didn't even bother replying. Terrible. Last time I purchase Michelin.
By contrast on my Renault Megane RS250 I recently fitted some Bridgestone Potenza Sports 235/35R19 made in Poland. Brilliant tyre especially in the wet and minimal weights needed to balance. I also have a spare set of rims with and Nankang CR-S Comp Semi slick 235/40R18 out of Korea, and again minimal weights needed to balance.
Shame Michelin are unable to maintain the same quality control as their competitors.
Michelin Deflated – I never envisaged there would be the need to write a review such as this. Our family have purchased Michelin tyres over several decades without incident, however I wish to share our recent experience. A set of 4 XM2 were purchased which after a time began to run hard. Upon further examination, it was discovered they were manufactured TWO YEARS prior to our date of purchase. Where had they been sitting for that period?
Upon contacting Michelin Australia H/O in Melbourne, an inspection was arranged via Sydney office at their request. The inspection confirmed the age of the tyres also they were cracking. Photos were forwarded to Melbourne.
Since then several weeks have elapsed & there has been no further communication from Michelin.
A request was made for a copy of the inspection report, however Michelin have not responded.
Emails & text to them have been ignored, their conduct has been abysmal. This experience is a poor reflection of the standard of their customer service, nor have they adhered to their their complaints policy in this matter.
The measure of a company is gauged by their response to customer complaints & Michelin have failed miserably.
Our retail outlet has been left out of pocket through no fault of theirs, they were offered 50% of the cost of 2 tyres, SHAME!!!
The manner in which this has been handled is a disgrace.
We will never purchase their product again. The finale of a long relationship.
SAYONARA Michelin.

Since this review of 25 August & follow up in October, Michelin have not responded to correspondence, nor has my retail outlet been reimbursed. My follow up letter of 27 October was delivered on 9 November. I guess their attitude speaks for itself.
