My husband and myself with six family members have just celebrated the most incredible No Waste Monday meal. The staff expertly catered for Vegetarian and Gluten Free customers. They also remembered our four birthdays so each had Happy Birthday on their dessert plate. The planned meal was delicious and so varied, staff were very attentive and helpful, the venue is amongst a beautiful forrest setting. We will remember this beautiful meal for a long time. Millbrook Winery shocking booking conditions – We booked for lunch at the restaurant for 6 people as we had given each couple (3 couples) a Voucher for Christmas to go to the restaurant and were all excited when we booked to experience the venue. We did find it strange that a restaurant asked for a "Booking Guarantee" of $50 and then it stated that if we cancel inside 48hrs we would lose the payment - for a restaurant? That said, we went ahead and booked a time for a Sunday. When we woke on the Saturday, one of the couples wife had caught COVID and returned a positive test on the Saturday morning. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager and informed them we would like to cancel and will book another time as we had vouchers to use. They said as it was inside the 48hrs (we called a day before the booked lunch) they would take the $50 booking fee. I said what do you want us to do ? come with someone and potentially there partner both being COVID positive to a public restaurant ?? to my astonishment, they replied "well, that's up to you and your choice, but if you cancel or don't arrive, then you will be charged the $50". Obviously we would not risk others and would not go with a COVID positive person in our group. After much debate, they allowed us to pick a date in the future (which I said I'm not sure we can all make and again they said you will lose the $50). Really disappointing from the establishment, Managers and owners - we were always going to go for a lunch at the restaurant as we had bought Vouchers. After this ordeal and experience we won't be buying their vouchers again. Really poor considering COVID and the full days notice of cancellation.
