Minelab Go Find 40

Lightweight, works.. but – Bought the Go Find 44 from minelab as wanted a light weight detector for my son. The detector is good and works as far as detecting metal in ground.. The problem is that is also gives off a lot of false signals - so sometimes it is beeping all the time - especially in wet ground conditions like at the beach. Also where the topography is uneven the unit beeps each time the coil touches the ground. At the beach where there is weed or in places with rocks or uneven sand - it quickly becomes a game stopper. The coil is sensitive so you must move very slowly.. any fast movement will also result in a phantom beep.
Unfortunately my son got bored with all the beeping after a couple of goes and has said its broken.. I don't think it is - perhaps just very sensitive and not great in wet or bumpy areas.. The place where this unit works best seems to be over grass - like in the backyard or ovals.. flat and no bumps.
Great light weight detector – Purchased this detector for coin hunting only.need light weight which it certainly is.Is very easy to use with simple non complex controls.Ideal for beginner to get into hobby without huge cost.Bluetooth function is very good also as is battery life only needing 4 AA batteries.Having volume control is big bonus also.
Great product for beginners – I wanted to try out metal detecting without going to great expense. Minelab is a reputable brand amongst a few others but I wanted a simple to use product suitable for a novice. I did my online research an decided that the Go Find 40 would suit my needs. Pros: Light weight, compact, easy to use. Cons : Plastic flimsy feel. I have used it a few times and found it really easy to use, with only a few adjustments required to ignore junk.
I have had some trouble with false readings in wet sand but I'm sure that's just me getting to know the machine.
Overall I am very happy with the unit and would recommend it to others wanting to try out this hobby.
Bluetooth feature only works on some phones, not on my HTC.
Great entry level metal detector. I know it works, results have been good so far – I always wanted to have a go at finding gold and treasure with a metal detector. I have looked at detectors a few times over the last 30 years but this time I looked, I had to buy one. Before I had decided on if I would buy one, I watched a few youtube vids. Always do this before spending money on a product. I always look at productreview.om.au to see what people are saying too.
After watching lots of videos of people finding gold and treasures, I decided to buy a Go Find 40.
The Go Find range is quite impressive as far as design performance and price.
Out of the box, the Go Find range need no tools or any in depth knowledge on using a detector.
All I had to do was put 4 AA batteries in it, extend the shaft, unlock the handle, adjust the coil to be parallel to the ground, turn it on and go find stuff.
Very compact and lightweight.
Real easy to use.
Real easy to unfold.
The Go Find range have different features but seem to be the same unit from the outside.
There is 3 models in the range. The 20, 40 & 60.
Check the webpage for more info on what you get with each model.
Also look at videos for each model.
The 40 that I bought can discriminate against iron or other lower grade metals so you don't waste a lot of time digging up trash.
The 40 can connect to your phone. Mine is giving me a fault when trying to connect but I'm sure I will sort that out. It might be the firmware I have on my phone that is the problem. It might not be a minelabs problem I am experiencing to be fair..
So far I have used it a few times and found things. Not knowing about the performance of other detectors, I can only conclude that this unit is a good choice for anyone who wants to give it a go.
I'm very happy.
