MinWell

Works well – For what it is, I think it is, as far as a non-installed water filter is concerned, I like it! I didn't need a plumber. It was easy to install and I could really taste the difference, ... for the better. Might be a bit expensive, but certainly much healthier and much cheaper than buying "spring water" in a plastic bottle.
Not a fan – This is a very expensive water filter that is a pain in the proverbial to maintain (i needed to clean the filter every week in order to maintain a reasonable water flow). the unit itself is of poor quality. Very overpriced and not worth the money
Love it – We installed ours 8 months ago. Works perfectly, the water tastes so much better. The alkalizing really works, I have been testing the water before an after and it really makes a huge difference. Would definitely recommend this product.
Great but expensive replacement catridges – I purchased my MinWell+ water filter in June 2015 and am happy with it. I noticed some reviews here are about the slow speed/poor quality of the water that comes out of the filter. A bit of research and a read through the manual shows that, like many types of filters (eg. fridges with water dispenser, water jugs, even vacuum cleaners, etc.) they… Read more
need maintenance and/or replacement after a certain period of time. In this case, the MinWell+ filter cartridge needs to be replaced after approximately 2500 litres of water going through it (or roughly every 6 months). I actually replaced my filter cartridge today and noticed a huge difference. After replacing the cartridge the speed/pressure the water was coming out was amazingly fast...faster than what it was when I bought it back in June! So, in theory the crap that comes through your tap water needs to be filtered and trapped somewhere in order to maintain a healthy alkaline/mineral level of your filtered water, hence a replacement every 6 months or so. There's 3 adults and one child in my household and we have a family of 10 gathered over every 2-3 weeks, so the filter is used A LOT on a daily basis and has kept up very well until recently when I noticed the water coming out noticeably slower. A brand new filter catridge has a clean white base, whereas an old cartridge will have a very brown, slimy & dirty base, thus needing replacement. Also, keep in mind that the length of the hose that connects from the filter to your tap determines the speed and the amount of water that continues to travel through the filter after each use when turning your tap off. I cut the hose a little shorter (because the hose was otherwise wrapped around the filter and too long), and so not as much water is wasted. Or you could keep a water bottle nearby to capture any excess water you can drink later or water your plants! Easy! One downside to maintaining the filter, however, is that a replacement filter cartridge costs around $95 (ebay) to $110 (from health food stores) to $120 (other distributors). So it can be expensive to keep replacing but it's still more cost-effective than constantly buying the cheapest supermarket bottled water around - yes, I purchased the filter mainly for access to filtered water more than anything else like the benefits the MinWell+ might have over bottled water. If you don't use the filter as much then you can probably stretch a replacement cartridge another 2-3 months. Make sure to test the water every month or two to keep the alkaline/mineral level in mind. I gave it 4 stars mainly due to the cost of replacing a filter cartridge..otherwise, the product serves it's purpose.
I question, however, the integrity of these filters as I know someone who owns the same filter system but an older model made by the same company before it became Naturopaths Choice, and even after 1.5 yrs they haven't had to change the filter cartridge. The speed & taste of the water has remained constant. Hmmmm...
I don't work for Naturopaths Choice and I am not paid for my review of their MinWell+ filter. My opinion is totally based on experience of using this filter, and with hope that it can help those looking to purchase one. I hope Naturopaths Choice can respond/answer in more detail publicly about some complaints/queries people have here about their MinWell+ . Fingers crossed the price on the replacement filter cartidges will cheapen without compromising on quality.
When I complained about the Minwell on this site I was then contacted by Naturopaths Choice – I asked the company for filtration test results. I received them and found no details on the test results of the product tested or the testing facility which was used for the testing. I asked about this and I was told that the test was for another product but that the test would still apply to the Minwell. I searched on the internet and found… Read more
the exact same test they had sent to me but with the testing facility and the name of the product on the test results. The test had actually been done on an Alkastream in 2010.
I told the company that it was most likely fraud to use another companies test in this way and the owner replied that he will get his own test done one day. The Minwell says that it is supposed to be formulated by a naturopath but it turns out it is the same unit that was discontinued by another company in 2012.
To top things off I asked about a test for hydrogen as they say that the Minwell makes this. I was told that they had a video showing test results but when I looked at the video it was very odd. I asked if they we going to get some way of testing for hydrogen and they said yes they would have it soon. I asked if when they had the testing product could they send some to me and they said they would. That was months ago and nothing has been sent to me nor have I been contacted. Now I am writing this as I have had it with this company.
May 15th 2016 Update:
I previously reviewed the Minwell and was very concerned about a lot of issues one being they had copied another companies water testing results and sent them to me saying that they were their test results.
NOW: The company have now done their own test on the Minwell filter. Someone I know asked if they had any test results and the company emailed these results. The results show that the Minwell DID NOT pass the fluoride removal test. I bought the unit to have fluoride removed like it say it does, but it doesn't!
Great tasting water! – The water tastes great, which helping me to drink lots more! The filter is working perfectly for me and I couldn't be happier
The filter itself is not clean at all – We tried to flush it for hours wasting lots of water, but still lots of black particles what looks like carbon is still coming through. I am beginning to wonder if the one we bought is some kind of refurbished or used one.
Taste – How else can i say it? Water tastes bad. Not impressed when it was so expensive. Brita woulda bin betta.
Delicious and healthy – I've been using the MinWell+ alkaline water filter, ioniser and mineraliser for 3 months and I couldn't be happier. The pain from my arthritis has almost totally gone and I love the soft, smooth taste of the water.
Counterfit product made in China – Looking at the box and manual I couldn’t find out where is was made, after some googling I found it was made in China, I wouldn't eat food from China and there definitely no way I would want my family drinking water from a Chinese water filter. Atleast I easly got a refund when I asked.
