Mont Blanc Meisterstück Platinum Line Classique Ballpoint Pen

Pen cracked - customer service hopeless – My Mont Blanc pen cracked just 6 months after the warranty ran out. Pen was well looked after and hardly used - kept it for special occasions only. Sent it away to Mont Blanc who wanted to charge me $195 for a small piece of plastic. That's 30% of the cost of the pen. Other premium brands often show discretion when honouring warranties. Not #montblanc. Will not buy another of their products again. At the end of the day they are plastic pens. You are just paying for brand not genuine workmanship.
Mont Blanc Meisterstück Classique Ballpoint Pen – Going back almost half a decade ago, I was given this pen from my father-in-law; one thing for certain is that I will never ever cycle carrying anything as expensive as this again. As when I lost it, I became rather frantic; and subsequently rushed around looking for a replacement in which I did; nevertheless, the replacement I bought early 2012 is working flawlessly to this very day.
Though to be different in the experience of Mont Blanc pen ownership, I am a collector of pens. I don't particularly buy them often because they are expensive after all, but I make every effort to keep them in relatively good and especially in working order. Just to name a few, my range of brand ownership are: Waterman, Parker, Cartier, Cross, Monteverde and of course Mont Blanc.
Of course like any kind of ownership, there is an expected cost of maintenance. The refills of my Mont Blanc is what I would consider perhaps on par with other brands; at $11. Though I buy mine and have so for years and years from TAFTS and they have been quite competitive in their pricing.
Disappointed – I was given a beautiful Mont Blanc pen. However, the ink ran dry after only a few weeks. I went into the Mont Blanc shop and the sales girl accused me of having dropped it on its tip. This had not occurred. $30 for another refill. Then a few weeks later that one leaked. Again they accused me of dropping the pen. Another $30. As this was by far the dearest pen I had held in my hand I was careful with it and had not dropped it. Workaday pens will take the odd dropping. This pen on the other hand has been treated with kid gloves and does not live up to expectations. Beautiful, writes nicely when working. Unreliable in operation, snooty customer service.
