Multimeter Digitech QM1551 Questions & Answers
How to perform NCV testing?
I assume you mean Non Contact Voltage testing. When I purchased my first QM meter over 10 years ago I was intrigued by the intermittent flashing LED above the display that seemed to come on randomly even when the meter was turned off. There was nothing about it in the instructions and at the time no one online was any help either.
Eventually I worked out that if the LED was on it meant the meter was close to 240V AC or within 10 to 30 m of a high voltage line. Unfortunately it is a bit too sensitive and basically flashes when ever the meter is moving so take no notice of a flashing LED.
I love these Digitech QM series meters, they are inexpensive, can take a few knocks and are easy to use. It is slightly annoying to have to hit the RANGE button 3 times after switching to "V" to measure 12 V but I am used to it now. I have 2 QM 1323's and a 1551. My daughter and Mother in law have them as well and none of them have ever given any trouble (the meters that is!!!)
Which varistor changes what setting?
Apart from irrelevant comments about how to implement an auto power off function and no mention of how the meter performs *as a meter*, I want to know if this instrument is reasonably accurate and does the true RMS function work as claimed? Jaycar's got it on special at half price over Christman 2018.
comments on the auto power were relevant to me
For the Digitech QM1551, how is capacitance measured? For example by constant DC current and measurement of the rate of voltage rise, or by AC (at what frequency, constant current or constant voltage)?
