Terrible – We had this unit trouble free until a month before the 3 year warranty expired. The screen would turn off but we still had sound. NEC fixed the unit under warranty and reported the problem was an inverter board, apparantly a known problem with this set. We were assured the current inverter boards were much better than the inverter boards available 3 years ago so looked forward to many years of happy viewing. Then 8 months later the same thing happened and this inverter board was replaced. Shortly thereafter the TV unceremoniously turned itself off and tripped our circuit breaker. NEC didn't want to know about it and worse still they had outsourced the the servicing to AWA. Long story short, they wouldn't honour the warranty of the last repair and the TV certainly wasn't worth spending any money on. RUBBISH TV AND SERVICING. The feeling of satisfaction as I watched it tumble to the bottom of the dumpster. Constantly broke down.

Trusted the NEC brand and was severly disappointed. The tuner needed fixing then it begain to shut itself off, only after 6 years. Some TVs run for 20-30 years. What a joke? Is this the case for other NEC's? Is there any chance of support with NEC out of the market?

Terrible – As soon as warranty ended, power pack blew up and nearly burnt my house down! Caused by poor solder in positive terminal of 24v power supply. Now it is fixed it has started cutting out after one second, cycle through and back to video input and it comes good for a while. Found plenty of other people that have had this fault on fix-ya dot com. Overall a really awful product! Should have bought a cheap no-name telly.

Then i wouldnt have felt so cheated when it died. Looks good even when it,s not working Never works
