Hi I am looking at installing a 10.1kwh Neovolt battery system to my existing 6.5kw solar system. I generate on average 28-32kw per day, this should easily charge my battery during the day. What I need to know is during the evening we are running 2 x small 2.5kw air conditioner will the battery last the entire night (12 hrs). We live in Central Queensland so we run the AC at around 24 degrees. The only other items is the fridge, the hot water and cooking is all done with gas, no electricity.

Do the maths If you use 2.5kw per hr then 10kw is 4hrs

We got 2 of these batteries but don't use an air con - it lasts all night for us - biggest advantage of battery is when blackout happens we still have our fridges work

Thank you for your prompt reply, greatly appreciated. But a 2.5kw AC does not draw 2.5kw when running at a minimal fan speed and coolness, hence to see if anyone else has AC’s running with a 10.1 kWh system. Cheers

There are many variables here including outside ambient temperature, insulation etc. I have 20kWh battery, R3 insulation and extremely efficient Daiken integrated aircon. When minimum temperature overnight drops below 20 degrees battery lasts but not much in it by sunup. Note I use a computer until 11PM nightly, battery at that time is normally 50%. Mine is 13.2KW solar system. Just remember that even if your 10kWh doesn't make it through the night, you are still saving. Being effectively "off grid" is actually quite difficult I realise so made decision that near enough is good enough, assuming your system is hybrid rather than off-grid.

I had my Neovolt ESS 3.6-5kW battery system installed today. I managed to setup the app to charge from grid during free power window, and was able to set max charge for this operation to 98%. But is it possible to set the minimum State Of Charge during any discharge operation? Also, is it possible to set the max SOC "normal" (PhotoVoltaic) charge?

mine is set to 10% so it never gets to 0% battery The business who supplied me the solar panels and battery, set up the battery, so I cannot answer this question specifically. I would recommend contact Neovolt directly or your supplier as its best to have someone qualified advising you of this information. I personally do not want to tamper with any of the settings myself, unless you know what you are doing and I mean know what you are doing, batteries are best set up by qualified people who do know what they are doing. Does not matter who the manufacturer of the battery is, its for safety reasons mainly Sorry I cant help you with this question
