Neptune Pool Pump NPP750

Very reliable, never skips a beat – A friend has a Neptune pump and they've always been happy with it so when it was time for me to update my pump, I got one too. I've had my Neptune pump for over 12 months so far and thought it's a fair amount of time to monitor it before giving it a review. And it works like a charm. It fitted straight onto my existing pool set-up so I was happy I… Read more
didn't need to muck around with trying to make it fit. I've never had issues with debris getting into the pump as I use a skimmer sock (always having kids in the pool means a lot of debris, dirt and small rocks end up in the pool & it hasn't been a problem ever). Would definitely recommend this product.
Look for a better product – Apolos for the long read but I would like to pass my experience on to make others aware. I Have a 12m by 6 metre pebble crete pool with an attached spa pool and 3 pumps / 2 filters running all the filtering and spa jets. I have been in the property for over 10 years and I initially replaced the pumps with 2 leisure time 1100 (cheap pumps i… Read more
bought when we moved in(299 each). They finally failed (after 10 years) as did one of the filters so I had a pool equipment installer /repairer replace the faulty pool filter and 2 pool pumps. Did a great Job on the install. The pumps installed are neptune npp750's by pool pro. Heres the problems I have had with them. After installation and everything was up and running I vacuumed the pool as I usually have done over the years from one of the filter boxes ie using one of the pumps (there being one filter box on either side of the pool). After about 2 weeks , the pump I always vacuum thru stopped , so I took it into the distributor who stripped it and found pebbles had got through into the impeller shaft /prop and seized the pump there by it was a write off. I was honest with the distributor as to what I had done and he was awesome enough to replace the pump at cost. I was also advised by the installer to use an inline filter canister when i vacuum ..which I now do.
Heres the next part-- The pumps have been running for 10 months now and abruptly the other pump that has never been used for vacuuming the pool seized. So I took the pump out and used the rear turning screw to reverse the shaft which freed it up. So i thought what is going on with these pumps , I decided to see what was different from the original leisuretime pumps(i kept the baskets for some reason) and the neptune pumps and what I found is that the basket in the pumps have different sized holes , the LT1100 have smaller holes where the water flows through to the impeller which catch any small pebble sized object compared to the Neptune basket has larger holes that let anything pebble sized or small plant sized (hard material) through which end up damaging the pump. I would not recommend these pumps for a pebble crete pool and I would never buy one of these pumps again. They do the job which is why I wont say they are terrible but if your considering buying a neptune pump please be informed from my experience. As an addon I also upgraded the spa pump which is an Ozito 800w pump from bunnings and before I installed it I checked the internal pump basket and it has small holes like the LT1100.Been running beautifully for the last 6 months and is a approx third the price of the Neptunes($700) Cheers
