Netgear WiFi Booster for Mobile WN1000RP

Not good as much as I expected – I bought this product to boost my wifi signal as I keep losing the wifi signal on my laptop in the study room. I bought this last Christmas and it seemed working fine with my laptop but soon the situation hadn't changed much. It didn't give me any dramatic change with my wife signal in the end.

Designed for small rooms only – My telstra wifi does not reach into the front room of the the house, as it is located at the other end of the house - a common problem. So I investigated various options. One of the cost effective options I saw was the netgear WN1000RP. So I went down to Scorptec to buy one. The directions were simple, press the WPS button on your router and the netgear unit and they will talk to each other. After 3 hours of configuration, I found I needed to change the settings on the router, and it finally all worked! Unfortunately, to my disappointment the range of WN1000RP was only 5-8 metres, and could not reach the room I required. I later discovered this model was designed for hotel rooms. So I returned the unit to Scorptec for a refund and have used a power line wifi extender instead.
