So rude and not helpful at all. Ring looking for money I don’t even know I have an active subscription for and when asking to cancel it they tell me that’s not possible until I pay money.
There is no contest of ideas here. If you try to discuss immigration standards, cultural differences, or upholding australian values you will be rejected. Their bias and censorship is rampant. Do not bother subscribing.

Horrible unsubscribe service, needs to be outlawed. Have been a loyal customer subscribing montly for 6 years, recently copped a massive 63% price hike. Was of course unable to unsubscribe online so had to go through the phone call with the high pressure sales attempt to retain me. Was offered discounts etc as a "loyal customer for such a long… Read more
time". Maybe don't jack the price up so much on loyal customer and they won't leave. The fact they have built such a huge retention machine proves they aren't providing a valuable product, and instead they are are doing everything they can to force people to stay using nefarious means.
Local Polluter – News Corp's Wentworth Courier pollutes our environment. Every week there are piles of them dumped at apartment blocks throughout the eastern suburbs of Sydney. Very few are picked up by residents. At our block where they dump more papers than there are units none are taken by residents. These papers are wrapped in plastic and that makes them… Read more
non-recyclable. Tonnes are going to landfill. Calling it a newspaper is a stretch, it is nearly all advertising. Why so many businesses and individuals choose to advertise in a paper that is read by so few is astounding. The people who advertise in this paper must have more money than sense.

They charge far, far more than advertised when you subscribe, and make it very very difficult to cancel. The news itself is very biased and clearly written to sway your views rather than present.
I've been a loyal subscriber to the Australian for years, but they've become as woke and woeful as all the other hypocrites calling themselves the media. I could rate them less than 1-star I definitely would. They're meant to host a "contest of ideas", sure, unless and until others ideas conflict with their own. All their connected so-called… Read more
conservative views are just a smokescreen. Somehow The Australian "thinks" They're above every other idea, thought or commentary, when straightforward comments offend their little senses and continuously reject submitted comments. It has been complained about so often and addressed by their staff, but either a wokely programmed algorithm or woke staff always block not aggressive but honest and at times somewhat confronting truthful commentary is so often rejected because they weren't the ones that said it. Even on Skynews their hosts and panels can speak much more strongly worded criticisms of the Gov't but we're not somehow worthy of being heard? Talk about hypocrisy writ-large!
The videos embedded in each article in the Australian auto-play when you open the page. There is no option to prevent it from playing. Oh, and the comment moderators seem to have an average age of about 12, with matching degrees of life experience. Their policy is: uh, don’t understand this so I’ll disallow it. And don’t start me on the sub-editing, or lack of it. These clowns have lost me.
I signed up yesterday to read one article for work. Once i read it, i wanted to cancel as I used my personal account. I had to say 4 times on the phone call to cancel subscription. Overall customer service was rude. Its incredibly dodgy that we cannot cancel within our account online, plus it probably makes it a frustrating work day for customer… Read more
service (explains why he was rude). The after call feedback quiz is also pointless as its missing the key information for the meaning behind the numbers. i heard the government is looking into subscription services that make it hard to cancel. I hope they look straight at all newspapers as the others are like this too.
I have been trying for 7 months to get our Herald Sun delivery driver to deliver on or near our driveway. Now that we are the only household in our court that has home delivery and we are on the corner, the driver no longer turns into our court, he just throws it from the main street. it can be found on the road, footpath or nature strip. I have… Read more
been in regular contact with the Customer Support Team, who are very apologetic and have sent numerous messages to the distribution centre, but nothing has changed. The photo shows where todays paper landed. Perhaps a negative review will get results
Tried to get Saturday 'The Australian' as the online packages didn't have this option. Agent offered me a package- I did state it would be handy if this was available without having to call. She asked me to enter my credit card details without having her on speaker- we tried numerous times and apparently there is no other way to pay for the… Read more
service unless you do it this way i.e. they cannot send an invoice/ accept bank transfer etc. She implied I was doing it incorrectly- I do these transactions all the time. She suggested I call back- no way; if they don't want to make it easy for customers they won't have them- I find it very ironic a publication finds it so hard to 'publish' a better system.
Unable to cancel subscription to Australian newspaper on app or online. They say you can only do it by phone call but no one answers. You only get a bot message saying they will call you back …still waiting after 1 day!
Had the 'Australian' News paper on subscription to listen to a podcast. Continued it as it was difficult to cancel. However noticed that the content was incredibly biased and their reporting on the war in Gaza was disgraceful. Such a disappointing newspaper.
I would give a minus 10 if I could. Tried to cancel my subscription online and you can't. You have to call them. I was furious. It's 2025 for goodness sake. Of course you have to call them because they try and talk you out of it.
I wanted to cancel my Herald Sun Subscription. I figured I could log into my account and do it from there. NOPE! They force you to call them to cancel their subscription, and you have to do it during work hours! I asked them why I needed to call to cancel, and the response was: "its not possible with our system". Utter crap, it's just designed to make it difficult to cancel. This feels like it should be illegal.
The daily telegraph’s subscription terms are not just misleading – they are outright deceptive, designed to trap customers into unwittingly paying for services they don’t want. Initially paid $1 for 4 weeks then $32 per month. But they charged $32 to my account from the 3rd week... There’s no clear clause stating that unsubscribing via SMS to 0481… Read more
073 243 (provided upon online signup) won’t cancel subscriptions, but only unsubscribe users from marketing communications. It's an intentional tactic to exploit consumers. Their refusal to refund is not just disappointing, it's rather a blatant disregard for fairness and customer rights. In an era where online account management is simple, this company’s manipulative practices are shameful, wrong and absolutely unacceptable. REFUND MY MONEY DAILY TELEGRAPH/NEWSCORP
Too big to be bothered – Home delivery of The Australian weekdays is very good. Saturdays it invariably arrives 7 am or later. The annoying thing is no explanation, no apology and nobody cares. No way of complaining. News Corp service? Maybe they think they’re too big to be bothered?
Scammers – These people need to be investigated. Why is this company still up and running.. Scammers. Signed up to read one article. Once signed in the article was non existent. Tried cancelling subscription, cannot be done online! And no answer from anyone.
WASTE OF TIME - IMPOSSIBLE TO GET HELP, IMPOSSIBLE TO LODGE COMPAINT OR CONTACT MANAGERS – Paper delivery issue handling by 'CUSTOMER SUPPORT' team pathetic, non existent. Trying to resolve for 9 months got nowhere then subscription cancelled. Sent over 50 emails complaining all get is robotic scripted responses from offshore people, same from Australia. Impossible to contact anyone higher up to complain. Been waiting for a week to get reply from person in Australia who supposedly going to sort out, despite sending 5 follow up emails.
NewsCorpse – Like nearly everyone else, I signed up for the $1 per week x 4 weeks for an interstate publication, and only to read one article about a friend. I planned to cancel it within the 4 weeks but noticed the $28 for the 2nd month came out at the 3rd week. I wish I'd checked reviews here first so I was aware of the early charges. When I called to… Read more
cancel the subscription I was informed that it's in the fine print that they can take the money out from the 3rd week - it's not open and transparent that the payment schedule isn't clear to read. Though I was cancelling the subscription within the 4 weeks, they refused to refund me the 2nd month.
I have utilised the $4 for 4 weeks once before, a few years ago, and cancelled within the 4 weeks without any issues, e.g., ongoing charges.
I don't like their hard-sell tactics when you call to cancel either, they are very pushy & I feel for anyone who may be a bit timid and gets a super aggressive customer service person. Even when I explained that the paper is interstate and of no interest to me outside of the one article, they still worked hard to get me to keep the subscription. Why offer me a discount only when I want to cancel?
Each time she made an offer to get me to stay on, I just kept saying "no thank you" without further explaining until she gave up - if you offer an explanation it gives the sales people something to work with.
Terrible cancellation policy don’t sign up! – Absolutely ridiculous cancellation policy and needs to be reviewed. Signed up for the $1 promotion and in order to cancel you need to call in and action it, out of date and just after your money
Farcical Cancellation Policy – Paid to get through a paywall to read one article about an ill loved one. I then requested the subscription be cancelled. I have since $40 per month for a year, despite calling numerous times and was debited again after I took my payment details out of the site! The site itself has no option to cancel subscription, and diverts you to a number… Read more
where the customer service representative nonchalantly tells you that recurring payments are in the fine print and that they conveniently cannot see record of you having called previously. If I hadn’t been cheated out of hundreds of dollars, this would be borderline amusing.
Disgusting – Can 100% confirm this company is a bunch of lowlife scammers!!! My ex used my card to sign up to read an article, they have no option to cancel on their site, call these pieces of sh*t to cancel, they couldn’t find any records whatsoever of a subscription and just keep charging. You’ll have to cancel your card to stop these dogs from charging
100% avoid! – The 'Cancel Your Subscription' bottom on their website is a fraud. You can never ever cancel any subscription easily. When you call them you will wait and speak to the rudest customer rep in the world, plus trying to upsell and rip you off more and more money. A complete joke and liternally the worst!
Feels like they aim to rip you off – Generally i feel the whole experience was pretty dodgy generally. Definitely not recommend. I signed up to see the prep photos in qld for $4 for 4 weeks. Support the news. Why not. They took the $28 a week earlier than due. Is this a rort or a glitch in the system...??? I got in touch easily through the phone line. The phone line is to make it… Read more
harder to cancel subscriptions as you can sign up online but not cancel. The guy I spoke to was nice and I didn't wait long. He reimbursed the payment and cancelled my subscription but when i've looked at my statement they didn't fully reimburse me...27 instead of 28??? Minimal amount but overall just feels dodgy....may have been a fee but why not be upfront.
Manipulative and awful customer service when trying to cancel subscription that I cannot afford – As per all the other reviews, I signed up for this subscription 12 months ago for a $1/month deal, which increased to $28 a month. After trying to cancel online (spoiler - you can't), I called them to cancel (as their website tells you to do), and it took me a 10-minute phone call to finally get him to agree to cancel my subscription (which to be… Read more
honest, I don't even know if he actually did cancel it in the end).
The person on the phone kept trying to convince me that the subscription was worth keeping because of all the services & "rewards" they offer. I told him I could not afford it, and he continued to try to manipulate me into keeping the subscription. He tried to offer me a discount to keep the subscription, but I said no; he then tried to give me another month for "free", to which I said no because the catch was the subscription would not be cancelled. He tried to convince me to share the subscription with other family members; again, I said no, and he said that was "disappointing". Then, to solidify the manipulation, he gave me " 12 free articles" as a thank you for being a loyal customer, but "we really do not want you to cancel; you are such a loyal customer". I tried to decline this, but apparently, that wasn't an option.
We are in a cost-of-living crisis... I hardly think paying $28 for a crappy news subscription is high on anyone's priority list; we can get the news for free on TV and news.com.au. Ridiculous and very scammy vibes. Never again.
I would give 0 if I could – Signed up for herald sun to read 1 article. Have attempted to close my subscription for months! Attempted to call both herald sun and news corp to stop the payments and can never get through to anyone. I’ve tried emails and every form of contact they provide NOTHING! They continue to take $28 “ a month” I had 2X $28 payments taken over 2 days.… Read more
They continue to send my account into the negative. I had to cancel my card to prevent payments. Referred to consumer affairs because at this point it’s robbery. Don’t do it to yourself.
Awful service - Subscription Dept – In my opinion -quite possibly the worst customer service that you will ever experience in Australia. I have held a news ltd subscription for the past 15 years and am once again appalled with the unprofessional, discourteous and indifferent interactions with this department.
DO NOT FALL FOR IT – I signed up because it said it was $4/month and I wanted to read a news article online about someone I knew. Now for some reason after 3 months it's gone up to $28/month. To cancel you have to call them which is ridiculous and a waste of time from what I am seeing from other reviews. I was able to online suspend my subscription for 12 weeks and will continue to do that until I die
Cancelled subscription wasn't quite cancelled for 3 years – The website seemed misleading when i had cancelled my membership, only to find out later that they had been charging my business account for over 3 years over $1000 for a membership i used maybe 3 times. Disgusting.
$28 monthly fee that cannot be stopped – I'm being charged $28 / month for unknown services. NewsCorp can't tell me what I subscribed to nor cancel the subscription as they can't find my account. Referred to Fair Trading
Subscription debt scam – I reported $28/month as fraud 2 bank as they refused to refund because the membership was set up online. I explained to the bank-New corp had wrong email no phone number, no confirmation email or any other emails were received from them, the membership was never accessed. I WAS NEVER GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO CANCEL Today I received full refund… Read more
hope this helps!! IMPORTANT If NewsCorp have your wrong or missing contact info DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM-This may harm your case
NEVER SUBSCRIBE TO NEWS CORP SUBSCRITION SERVICES – News Corp Australia - they continue to take money out of your account after you cancel your subscription for MONTHS!! Which is called STEALING. You follow their cancellation procedure and then they feel like it is their right to continue to take $28 per month and they can't give you an answer as to why this is happening. Its a disgrace!!! even their finance department know why they are still charging your account. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER set up a direct debit with this company. News Corp you should be ashamed of yourself. Next step, Office of Fair Trading.
Miserable experience trying to suspend delivery of The Australian – The web site gives no feed back as to whether your attempt to suspend delivery has been received or not. The Customer help line, 1300 696 397, is just a succession of robot voices wanting you to communicate via the key pad. And to add insult to injury it refused to accept my rating of their customer service (2 out of 10 - I expect they didn't want to know). Oh for the day of the helpful news agency.
Lack of deliveries – After many phone calls and sms messages we have had no deliveries for 7 days after being a subscriber for over 30 years Hopeless service Even the comics have gone
